Based on similar comparisons in other sports, "expectations" is the average or mean of all players. In this case, it appears they separate in-system and out of system hits. Also I suspect they make some adjustment(s) to expectations, with one likely based on the ability of the opposition defense. Starting to see these often in football analytics and they seem to be fairly legit. Pro numbers are more reliable than college, though this is typical for any statisical analysis in a sport because college ball has such a wide range of abilities in almost any sport.

Except I don't spread unfounded rumors about players and coaches on this forum simply to try and hurt a program I don't support . . . I don’t give as much power to madden’s posts on this forum as you do. That's an interesting perspective considering you were the one who spent some of your personal time trying to diagnose him (based on his posts, I assumed) a couple of years ago; you even came up with a (qualified/unqualified?) medical diagnosis which I won't repeat as he found it very offensive. But, yeah, you're better than others in not letting certain posters bother you . . .

(I don’t think I’ve ever posted in this thread before. I come in peace. Not here to stir up trouble or raise anyone’s hackles. The Longhorns are my second favorite, so I check in on y’all once in a while. Happy to help with the 1000 pages goal. 😂) chadgordon is here on volleytalk. Maybe this will catch his attention and he’ll explain some of his statistical analysis on outside hitters. I saw in the Stanford thread he answered some questions about his middle hitter rankings. He also posted in the libero thread.

Now you’ve done it. You wanna go, you wanna go. 😂 I mean some people in this thread could probably find a reason to think that post was attacking Texas. It’s probably for the best he specified and made it perfectly clear lmaooooo

Chloe Collins was better imo. She was really good setting wise, absolutely. but we saw in the final four what can happen to really good setters that are a bit too short That's tea. Even if Chloe would've been 5'10, I think she would've had a Carlini-esque hype during her college career. She was so quick to the ball and had amazing hands. Even with that, she had a pretty good vertical jump. I remember her one block against Foecke in the 2016 semis.

Nebraska was like ridiculously stacked and Texas was definitely in more of a rebuild year with some weird line up stuff and they kinda looked a bit janky most of the year but they sure went and did the thing and swept Nebraska. That’s honestly one of Texas biggest accomplishments imo is making that final. They overachieved with that line up and don’t get much credit for it I feel

how does one calculate "above expectation"? That's the question I ask management every year during my performance review.
Bada-boom!
Thank you, I'll be here until Friday. And remember to tip your waiter.
