So last year they did the team photo shoot at the private jet hangar with the high end BMW, which was awesome. Does anyone have any ideas for this year? so think villain era, do some kind of roller derby girls theme (photo shoot)...roller derby girls are tough & have badass names...or something more glam a yacht party (large boat) on lake travis I was thinking yacht, too, but I think it’s because I lack imagination. It seems kind of derivative of last year’s theme. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. I love the rage room/roller derby theme. What about like faux medieval knights, with the NCAA trophy as the centerpiece in some way, like they’re “defending” the title? Dunno. I’d be good with a yacht theme, though. It’s not realistic, but if I had no limits it’d be on an aircraft carrier, lol. That’s too ridiculous, though. What about like a super hero shoot? Hah, I’m just going all random, now.

Hear me out and I’m not sure if it’s been done yet but since they dominated and destroyed the competition last season I think a demolition/rage room theme would be nice. Go all out with sledgehammers, glass, and hammers to go along with burnt orange/ glow in the dark paint or just regular paint. Nothing too violent but it would be a nice concept. Kind of send the message that they are ready to do it again🤘🏽 We have softball season tickets. A few years ago, some marketing person had an idiotic idea to film the promo video of the softball players taking bats and bashing the crap out of various cars, windows, furniture. It was kinda embarrassing as you were thinking "GOONS" while they were doing this.
I would say, NO.
“Okay okay. Brain storm! Brain storm! No idea is a bad one. Just let ‘em fly! Okay, Jimmy! Star Wars. Slicing a volleyball in half with a light saber. Using the force for a block. Got it. Susan! Jurassic Park with dinosaurs. Asjia O’Neal as T-Rex! Wrote it down. Keep ‘em coming. Frank, Warriors theme, baseball bats, swinging chains, with Emma Halter bashing coke bottles crying out, “Warriors, come out and playeeeaaaay!” And Skinner yelling, “Can you dig it!?!” Okay, I said no idea is a bad idea, but that’s the exception. Did it for softball and it was a no go. Hornfanaustin in particular was really down on it. Next!”

I don’t see how you attribute that to “goons”? It’s all in good fun and should not be taken so seriously. It fits the attitude of this team and stigma Texas volleyball has. Everyone already thinks they are overly aggressive with the stare downs and yelling at the net so why not play into it and own it? If everyone already sees them as the villain then BE THE VILLAN! I love the dominant/aggressive style we play with and I hope that never changes and I would like the photo shoot to reflect as such.

You haven't proved that everyone sees Texas as the villain. You simply use that as an excuse to do what you think you want. Where does this path lead? If people (wrongly) view you as a child molester, does that give you impetus to go out and molest children? You should be more careful about what path you choose to follow.

To be more clear, I am cautioning against tttt15's suggestion of embracing being the villain. If the suggestion was simply to embrace a "villain look" because black leather outfits are awesome, I would not have commented. But to be the villain means to act the part, and little acts of villainy naturally progress you towards big acts of villainy. I think it's a bad idea to head in that direction.

I think this is a huge stretch tbh. All of this came from that one comment that Asjia mentioned during an interview about them being in their 'villain era.' It's no surprise that in essentially every sport, Texas is generally unliked by those who are not fans of the school/programs, probably more so than any other school. Look no further than the 'Horns Down' that happen at so many sporting events, many of which Texas isn't even a part of. I think what the OP was suggesting was to just take ownership of all of that hate and disdain and use it to motivate, not as a crutch to do 'acts of villainy,' as you say. I'm not really sure what acts of villainy can teenage girls do in the sport of collegiate volleyball, but I imagine posters here will reach for straws when it comes to this. If there's this feeling from non-Texas fans of this 'Texas vs. the World/Everyone else' mentality it's because there kinda is?

Not this hater proving WHY we are in our villain era. Embracing the hate from other fan groups is not the same as being a child molester, the freak? It’s a photo shoot. In front of a plane.

As a Badger fan, I feel compelled to thank the Texas fans [Nebraska too] for attracting most of the crazies on this board. I hope the Badgers don't achieve that level of notoriety. Meanwhile, I look forward to Wisconsin dispatching Nebraska in The Big Ten again and running into The Horns somewhere down the line when the stakes are high and the action on the court is all that matters.

Not this hater proving WHY we are in our villain era. Embracing the hate from other fan groups is not the same as being a child molester, the freak? It’s a photo shoot. In front of a plane. Go back and read my unedited post again, because you clearly didn't read it right on the first pass. The use of "(wrongly)" in front of "view you as a child molester" was supposed to head off this sort of response. I'm pointing out the end point of villainy, when somebody chooses to embrace it. Obviously, that's a long way down that path, but it and comparable things are where you end up when that path is chosen. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Got it? This is good advice, not hating. The only part that you can truly ding me for being a "hater" is the "pitiful" at the start of it. And if you do that, I'll make you answer for the use of "freak". I think Texas fans are getting too much of a sense of paranoia. There is a core (small in my mind) of people who hate on them and might even be noisy about it (I detect a Nebraska slant to much of this). Add to that some recent additional bias for winning the volleyball title and for changing conferences. Both of those negative effects should be temporary. I think as long as you don't let it get into your head, you'll realize it isn't that bad. Obviously, location will adjust this. Where I live, Maryland, the vast majority of people couldn't care less about the University of Texas, positive or negative.

Villian era is a vibe, it’s not about criming or the slippery slope that leads to criming like you described. Also, this is quite the energy for a people who couldn’t care less about UT.
