halter getting snubbed on a team when without her texas would be one of the worst p5 passing teams lol. as someone who writes about the Bottom P5 schools… trust me, they wouldn’t be. there are some REALLY tragic P5 teams😭 |

if I made the teams, Halter would be on or close to second team but I’m not mad at her being left off (more upset that I think Kate G’s name carries more because of a table dive than her actual stats. Morris and Stonestreet>>. Emma might be the best mix of passing and defense though). no one else on Texas deserved a nod. period. Bella averaged just RIGHT over a kill and block per set. that’s not close to All Conference numbers. Molly under 2kps as a pin? no. Jenna? no. Ella? not there yet. this team is nothing if not Madi Skinner. we need everyone to step up in the tournament, but Madi carried us at an insane level this conference season and we’re gonna need some more crazy games from her if we want to get to Tampa. THIS but also I've noticed that we've overused Madi a lot. So, it's not stepping up. We also need to utilize our players. With Ella dumping more than our past setters, she's taking away opportunities for their numbers (Jenna and Bella) and they're not impressive numbers. I would understand if she had better numbers and more terminal but theyre not good enough for me. Rewatching UCF, I noticed she used the dump really we there. She hardly did it, but there was one string of points where our hitters hadn’t been able to terminate, and she stopped the run by dumping and letting us side out. |

Lowkey, this is the best possible situation.
This is a reminder of a TEAM FIRST mentality. Stats don't win/lose the game. How many humdingers have happened this year where a team outhit (and really outstatted) their opponent and still lost. Every single player would sacrifice an individual accolade for a TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP. And, at best, this provides excellent hunger/motivation/bulletin board material.
It may sting because we're not used to this, but bring the tourney and the Aggies on!!!

I was actually thinking of Arizona, but Iowa will do, lol. OMG Iowa was worse than Arizona for like the whole season and Arizona passed so poorly against ASU (1.74!!!!!!!!) that they TIED for the season at 1.92. I can’t!! Here’s the crazy thing to me, uofaGRAD, looking at those numbers. KState’s passing against Texas was a little over 1.8 according to volleymetrics, and they still swept the Longhorns. Their defense, scoring out of system and in transition, was insane. It was a little depressing, to be honest. |

I feel like she’s still learning when it’s appropriate to dump and when it’s not tbh. She falls into the trap a lot of doing it right after the opposing setter does it. If I were scouting her, I’d have my middle blocker key on her in those points religiously. |

Halter is terrific on defense, and is an excellent server, but needs to improve passing. I won’t be surprised at all to see her pushing for 1st Team and LIbero of the Year next year.

Also Morris at second team. There were actually several high quality liberos left out of being recognized. The Big 12 was deep at the position. I still wouldn't trade Halter for anyone in the country. I know I'm biased, but I like being biased. I love our Baby Spice. |

Agreed, love Baby Spice. One of my favorite Longhorns over all these years. Love how she plays. Every team should have somebody like her on the roster, whether as a starter or role player. Amazing depth at libero this year all around the country. It’s been fun to see. Volleyball is the singular sport where I find defense exciting to watch.
