I hate doubles being called on second contact when the ball doesn't go over the net. That's mikegarrison's jihad, but I've climbed right on that bandwagon. How is it giving a team an advantage? What are we penalizing, exactly? Nobody is purposefully trying to put spin on the ball on a set. As a former player with very bad hands, I guarantee you that nobody ever benefitted from my many doubles This. Like good luck to any of my hitters if that ball came out weeble wobbling. But at least give us a chance on defense. Right? Right?!? |

Rewatching the NC championship match for the vibes. Why do we not see the "Texas Jam" any more? I know it was Logan's signature shot (aside from crushing down the line) but one presumes she was coached to do it. Jenna and Madi's tips have a lot less pace. I've seen a lot more calls on it this season. Along with doubles called on non-setters - even when the set looks just fine, it seems that some refs reflexively whistle when a non-setter handsets  |

I hate doubles being called on sets. I’ve argued, is that really even double contact? I guess technically it is, but it’s entirely different than flailing arms, body-all-whackadoodle double-contact that everyone would agree should be penalized.

did anyone see skymoney's comment on usc ig (all pac 12 post)...interesting, this happened last season too I don’t understand her complaints. Kipp out performed in 4 of the 6 categories listed on the pac 12 player profiles and Fields literally won digs by .07/set. Plus Kipp lead the conference champion team not the 5th place team. Idk… maybe I’m a hater but it seems bitter imo. |

She’s still a great player. Still can’t pass, though. I still don’t think Skinner is quite as terminal as Fields, but that’s not a critique of Skinner, and I’m not even sure how true it is anyway. They’re neck and neck. But Skinner is light years better as a server and defender, is a marginally better passer, and is for sure grade A at giving corporate PR speak in ways Fields is never going to be. Skinner also has an additional year of eligibility. Given that there was no way Skinner was going to transfer to Texas with Fields still here, it’s amazing to me how well we came out of that. Just a win win win all around. USC got a tremendous talent. Fields was able to be featured as a 6 rotation pin in a way she never would have been at Texas. Texas wins a national championship with a drama free team and two electric OHes, plus two more years with Skinner as the featured attacker. Skinner gets to develop as a 6 rotation OH close to home for a premier program and wins her 2nd natty. Still has an outside possibility at adding to that total either this year or next. Not a favored possibility like last year, mind you, but not a complete long shot. Honestly, it couldn’t have worked out better for everyone involved. A true exhibit A for how the portal can work out for everyone. Well, maybe not Kentucky, but it’s not like they’ve fallen off the face of the earth, either. |

anyone planning to go to the early match? I am! I love tournament time. I was curious about the "early match" and I looked up the schedule on texassports.com. Man, they have really gotten sloppy. The schedule shows SMU and Texas State playing Friday! I had to go to the SMU site to see the true time.

Fields is a 1st Team AA likely to repeat, and an All-Conference selection who won many weekly awards. She has plenty of accolades, but lost POY to (at least) an equally deserving player on a much better team. And even if someone thinks it’s the wrong opinion, there’s no place for commenting like that. |

I wonder how she thinks mr. kumbaya would react to this type of public behavior from her lol |
