The committee knew what they were doing Although we don't like it, this was probably the fairest first round game for all 4 participants in terms of ability to attend to watch their players and family members play. agreed, but we should be playing Texas State this round, not Texas A&M. the committee was definitely prioritizing views. Texas A&M is above Texas State in RPI and almost 20 spots above Texas State in KPI. honestly it’s a pathetic placement, unfair for both teams.

I love it. So happy we get to crush A&M in the first round then take on SMU.
Given the lackluster last month in terms of opponents, this is just what the doctor ordered.
Also, how long has it been since Texas lost two matches to non tournament teams in a single season?

Fun fact I’ve mentioned before but I haven’t seen recently.
Bianna Muoneke, who made the All SEC freshman team, is the daughter of Longhorn basketball great Gabe Muoneke. Gabe was too short to be a power forward in the NBA, and didn’t have the handle or shooting to be a 3, but he played professionally for about 10 years nonetheless, including with the Nigerian national team, even though he was born in the US.
Probably the most impressive thing to me about Gabe Muoneke is that he graduated with a Petroleum Engineering degree from Texas, which is no joke. The Nigerian diaspora is well known for their collective academic achievements so it’s not a complete surprise, but to do that as a major Div I athlete is incredible. He was known as a relentless player with a few anger management issues. I’m sure he’s proud of his daughter. I enjoyed watching him play for Texas immensely, so it’s nice to see his daughter have so much early success, even if it’s for the Aggies.

I’m nervous 🌚 I know Skinner and O’Neal turn into different beasts when the tournament comes around but I hope Wenaas shows up. I think the leash will be very short in terms of subbing her out if she struggles but I hope she plays the best she has all season in this tournament 🤞🏽

Elliott is ride or die with Wenaas. I don’t feel like A&M is going to handle the Texas serve all that well. They have some good players, but I don’t think their backrow defense is very good. They do have a good block, though.

if Barnes struggles early, I still think Jenna might benefit from playing 6. I would like to see it. with Carissa serving for her though lol

Has Barnes seriously been that bad? I haven’t paid much attention to Texas in recent weeks.

Has Barnes seriously been that bad? I haven’t paid much attention to Texas in recent weeks. no, she’s just had matches where she’s really struggled. I’m just saying if this is a match where she struggles, we should let Jenna play 6 like we did against UCF in the last set. when shes off, she’s off

Hard to believe how long ago it was that Wenaas was a verbal commitment to A&M (and Coach Corbelli, I think). Even after she decommitted and signed with Minnesota, I always had the feeling she'd return to the state of Texas -- just thought it would be A&M, not Texas.

IMO, serve receive and how Swindle plays as a freshman will be factor's. They both can be shaky at times. Still don't like the matchup.
