*lots of good matches today -georgia tech vs florida (go gt) -tcu vs florida state (go fsu) -baylor vs kentucky (rooting for the bears, cats are crazy good) -georgia vs arizona state (go bulldogs) -penn state vs kansas (rock chalk) I'm rooting for Kentucky because I think they have the best chance of upsetting the Huskers. true, i don't believe baylor will win |

Serious question — just checked Sarah Franklin’s stats vs. Madi’s — if both teams potentially made the Final Four, who do we see winning POTY? Franklin hitting at a higher clip but Madi carries the team more and averages more points per set 5.33 to Franklin’s 4.63. Franklin is incredible in system, but Madi is slightly better out of system and going over the block. Madi is the better blocker and defender of the two statistically (and technique wise IMO). What do we think? Franklin is a stud and I would not mind it going to her, but Madi has quietly had an amazing season and deserves it just as much.

Frankly, I'll be happy for us to win tonight and make the Sweet 16. An Elite 8 berth would be a real win--and that's where I see the buck stopping, unless by some miracle Houston upsets Stanford and gets the Regional moved to Austin. I want more than that for all our seniors (especially Asjia and Molly) but it took Asjia having an INSANE night to get us past unseeded Texas A&M. We lost a set in the first round for the first time in OVER 20 YEARS We are so spoiled historically, but it just seems like the pieces didn't click this year the way they sometimes do. And that's ok! Not every year is going to be like the 2022 or 2012 seasons |

A couple of thoughts: 1. I went through box score and counted the number of blocks by A&M attributed to attacking errors by Wenaas. A&M had a total of 14. Set 1 - 4 Set 2 - 2 Set 3 - 1 Set 4 -1 I guess that's considered....coaches adapting? 2. [Deleted by me trying to spare players' feelings]
3. JE is such a "moneyball" coach he pulls out all these stats when explaining why he does what he does. What kind of decisions are being made for a player who is hitting negative throughout the game? 4. [Deleted by me trying to spare Longhorn Fanatics' feelings]
5. [But I'm not going to let (1) go] 6. Explain this to me who are more in the know about A&M and volleyball. When A&M started the game subbing in two at a time on rotations, I thought, "Hunh, doesn't that usually mean they play a 6-2? I'm not sure. I'll ask my daughter later. But if the game goes long won't they run out of subs?" And then that third set where they ping-ponged back and forth on points....did A&M slow down subs because they knew they would start running out of sub counts?  7. The bands. A&M brought a strong contingent to the game. UT's band seemed lighter than normal. A&M's band seemed to playing a lot more during breaks, whereas UT lite band were just looking on their phones during timeouts. I've experienced the A&M band playing in Gregory the last time they were here for a tournament. They were good. And they played music other than their standard Aggie themes. My wife asked, "Do they allow women in the band?" [Hey that used to be a thing, that they didn't allow women in the band] and I said, "Yup, there's one girl right in the middle of those guys" 8. However, the band may not know the strategy on making noise during the game. Truth be told, I didn't know until 2 years ago. The band was constantly trying to make noise to distract our servers. I was thinking, "Dudes....thanks!" 9. It was sad that seats were sold out and yet, people didn't show up. Next to us: 10. For two sets the Texas State fans and cheerleaders stuck around, probably waiting for players to shower up and then all board buses back to San Marcos. The cheerleaders were cheering along for Texas, singing our chants, even throwing up the Horns.
