Another note: A&M parents were sat next to the student section. They were VERY (like every point, very) unhappy with Ella’s setting. They were calling a double on almost every ball that had any spin. When one of their middles got called for a double, a few parents got out of their seats and onto the floor to scream at the refs. Lots of “your setter doubles worse than that” and “your setter doubles every ball” I mean, are you even a volleyball parent if you're not shouting "double" every time the other team sets? 💀

I think I've been around too many cattle being butchered to have the same kind of reaction the rest of you seem to be having.
I'm not a fan of slitting the stomach of a steer in front of the fraternity house, but I'm not channeling my inner Herbert Morrison with thoughts of, "Oh the humanity!" either. Probably whoever did it has been butchering cattle all of his young adult life and didn't think much of it.
Sometimes I think we're too far removed from how our food is actually produced for our own good.

I think a lot of people think doubles are more common than they are. A ball can have a lot of spin but come out of your hands in one contact. I’m very glad the double call is getting loosened restrictions. The parents were genuinely out of their stands (more than normal parents) about Ella’s setting. It was very funny to watch. I just don’t think they’ve seen some setting from an elite team look so wobbly. But they aren’t necessarily doubles.

Don't tell me. I don't want to know.

Sometimes I think we're too far removed from how our food is actually produced for our own good. at least for me personally, I think the outrage has more to do with the unknowns of it all - like how did the cow die? other may disagree - but if they somehow bought a dead cow and then messed with its corpse, I think that makes things a lot better imo. takes the whole animal cruelty thing out of it, still not okay by any means tho imo but if a bunch of fraternity dudes killed a living cow (which is what im guessing was the case) and then carved out its stomach out of spite for another unveirsty - thats something very different in my eyes and much more disturbing than the possibility I listed above. I think there's something very different than a professional butcher killing a cow and a bunch of colleges kids doing it. I can tell you right now other than without a gun - there's no way for a bunch of frat dudes to humanely kill an animal of that size im currently in a fraternity and I just want to say that WE ARE NOT ALL LIKE THAT this is crazy to me

It's not right
