Not sure if Tennessee (under this head coach) has reached the round of 16, but I don't think so. While the "been there done that" experience favors Texas, there are always a couple of programs who make some milestone strides in the post-season. Haven't watched much of the Vols this season, but I recall they got swept at South Carolina to end the regular season. Other than that, not many teams have gotten the best of them.

Monday thoughts: A&M should have been a second round match but I'm glad they weren't because it would've been closer. idk We stomped SMU. We hit over 440 and they hit around 160. BUT some ncaa analyst thinks we didn't do well and put us "8" for their new updated rankings.

So, all Big 12 teams except Texas bowed out of the tournament prior to the round of 16. So, no chance we face another Big 12 team this season. See ya! It's been real. We dive into SEC "conference" play on Thursday against Tennessee! A similar situation with conference switching is happening in Madison, aka the Big Ten 2024 regional, as Purdue welcomes Oregon into the conference with their match.

In 2020 (spring 2021) the Cards bowed out in the round of 16. But, two Final Fours after that. I'm sure that win at Texas helped with recruiting and overall program confidence in gaining more post-season success. Conversely, some programs get that first-time round of 16 win, but it's a one-time wonder and they never return to that level. Will be interesting to watch Arkansas after this season to see if the program can maintain this year's success.

There were juicier ones going on this past week. Even on the ESPN 5th Set show we didn't really get any screen time / commentary I'm also fine with the disrespect - it's going to fire the team up

LOL no we're not. We still have a target on our backs. We're the reigning champions.

good news for us:
Tennessee starts with Fingall in front left (or if we serve first, back left so when they side out she immediately moves front row) so Madi should be matched up against her for like 2.5 rotations. that’s gonna be huge as Jenna should find more success against their freshman setter Kerr. Madi’s efficiency might take a slight hit going up against Fingall that much but she’s never really let a block affect her that much before (I knocked on wood as I wrote this). I still expect Madi to be able to score as much as she’s able to, more about her than anything that’s happening on their side of the net. Jenna can hopefully keep up the hot streak against Kerr, and then hopefully Miner, who’s physical but not nearly as physical as Kipp.
Y’all are right about Molly, if we can clean up those sets, she’ll be a massive asset. Tennessee’s middles don’t close very many seems in the block… hopefully that leaves Molly and Jenna some 1v1s to boost their confidence. if we stay in system as much as possible and block well, I really like our chances. if we pass poorly or Swindle can’t back set, I still think we have a chance, it’ll just be completely based on if Wenaas can take advantage of Kerr.

Discovered this article late:
Hawaiian Airlines has been running an Austin <-> Honolulu route 3 days a week for about 2 years now? We took one leg of it to Maui earlier this year. It was pretty good!

In 2020 (spring 2021) the Cards bowed out in the round of 16. such an embarrassing loss, louisville was up 11-4 in the 5th set and lost to Washington - would've faced pitt in the elite 8 who they had already beat that year. im still salty
