Wishing this team the very best. Ngl, it was fun watching Pak after years of not seeing much playing time. For being only 6’ she’s a damn good blocker. I’m not not a fan of Mike Sealy, but seeing Pak excelled last season def got me thinking he messed up big time by not developing her. And good for Mullen for being a good teammate, I actually thought she’d be in the portal ann join her sister after losing her starting position. I think it's clear the Mullens are team players with solid character IMO.

I don't think they've been inactive. Just haven't landed anyone yet. I believe UCLA has 2 scholarships left on the table. 4 opened up after this season and 2 will be filled by commits if im correct. I don’t think they have 2 open. If you assume they used all 12 last season, which is a safe assumption, they have since had scholarships open up from Becker Ndiaye Tufono Becker and Ndiaye’s went to Horne and Humphrey. Tufono’s went to Pak who officially announced her return. Alfee may be looking for walk-ons. I think that Pak already had a scholarship and possibly Lane as well. I don't think Umeh has a scholarship. That leaves a possible 2 available?

Wonder if Umeh will get some looks this year. She was always so good in the big west.

So amongst the teams with 1st year head coaches, what’s everyone’s opinion on how this team performed? Clearly Reft made a huge impact in veteran players like Ndiaye, Pak and Dodsonn. If i recall correctly Ndiaye was highly recruited but struggled her soph/jr year? Pak was always in a 6-2 with the prev coach? Predictions on the Bruins’ 1st year in the b1g? Thanks in advance experts.

Had they won ,they would have gotten in. Have to replace Ndiaye and others have to step up. Solid freshmen coming in as well.

That being said, I think Reft got a tremendous amount of buy-in from all the players. Ndiaye became the 6-rotation OPP I'm sure she always wanted to be. We finally got to see Pak's potential after not being utilized since her freshman year (and that was only because of the injury to Chang). Leverette improved. He got experience for his two walk-on defensive players and worked through injuries. The team looked happy and ready to go. I'm hoping for good things in Reft's 2nd season, but it might be a minute before we see any true change since he's still working with Sealy recruits + whatever transfers he can get to fill the gaps. They'll struggle against the top teams in the B1G but they'll also probably surprise some folks. They won't finish at the bottom but maybe lower middle? Depends on what changes we see at OPP + OH1 + who takes Becker's spot.

The players can really hammer the ball. I don’t know how, but I wish to follow Ndiaye’s pro career. Hoping Leverette improves even more—there were a couple clips where she really dented the floor and the ball bounced to the ceiling lol (ok slight exaggeration). Excited to see this team grow and more of Dodsonn’s net stares lol. Becker will be tough to replace (btw, her post about last season being her most enjoyable was very heart warming). Casual fan of the sport here, so I’ll be following your in-depth take for sure. Thanks!

Thes kids are all used to playing at a high level ,do you think they can get into the tournament next season if all things align as you mentioned ?

Very curious as to how tough of a non-con schedule Reft will put together this year. Also quite interested in how all these conference realignment effects how many teams the B1G manages to get into the tourney. Only playing the top half of the conference once could be detrimental to bubble teams like UCLA has been.
