To you folks in Hawaii, looks like Aneli is off to a good start at College of Southern Idaho.....they are 14-1 and she was recently named to the SLCC Invitational All-Tournament team. CSI stats aren't updated but I caught their team for a few minutes and she was tearin' it up at the net but even more so in the backrow. Her passing is money! I couldn't help but think how big of a difference she would have made at UH.

CSI's starting setter is the daughter of a good friend of mine from Salt Lake City. Her name is Kaylene Finau, she's 5'11 and has hands of gold...I'm surprised a D1 school didn't pick her up, but then again, she was converted to a setter from OH in high school her senior year so maybe that's why she didn't get a lot of looks. I saw her play at Nationals here in SLC and I was very impressed with her setting abilities. Her placement is near perfect, she can vary the tempo, etc...the only weakness was maybe decision making.
However, it seems like Ben Stroud at CSI doing some great things with her as she made the ALL Tournament team as well and I was able to see the little improvements she's made in such a short time.
As for Nuuhiwa, looks like she's playing backrow for now.
Hey for you Hawaii folks, what the hell is a Buffanblu?

Somebody asked about her on Dave Shoji's radio show. He said that she still wants to come to Hawaii, but needs to get her academics straightened out. She would need to earn her AA degree and hopefully could play for Hawaii in the 2007 season. He made a comment that with all the injuries they had that they really could have used her at the NACWAA to help shore up their defense and passing.
