Good recovery for Baylor in Colorado after dropping the 5-setter to SMU. Following that up with 3 wins, including being the first team to sweep CSU this season, is good for momentum headed into this week's matches against Ohio State and Washington State.
Stowers was absolutely phenomenal this week. She is such a crafty offensive player and just knows how to score. If she can clean up her defense, both blocking and backrow, she will be absolutely stellar for Baylor.
Was excited to see Sczech with a solid offensive performance in the CSU tourney. She averaged 2.8 kills/set on a .429 clip. A nice turnaround for her considering she had hit .000 in 3 of the first 4 matches.
The middles for Baylor were extremely efficient on the weekend as well. Bibinbe averaged 2.5 k/s and hit .553 while Andrew was at 1.6 k/s, hitting .583 and adding 1.0 blocks/set. I honestly wish Carlson would set Andrew more. She has absolutely been putting the ball down and has been such a physical presence at the net. Good to see the Baylor middles producing.
A chance for two very big wins this week and it'll be at home. Hoping for a good crowd turnout.

I expect Baylor to have difficulties with Wazzu but come out on top against the Buckeyes. Then it’s on to conference play. I can’t remember the last conference season that felt this wide open. It feels like a harbinger for things to come. I fully expect the Big 12 to be the most competitive conference in the country in coming years.

umm where's Stowers? She isn't playing against cinncinati tonight and all I've heard the commentators say is that "she's out". Is it an injury or did Simpson take her starting spot?

I didn’t get a chance to watch the match today but probably an injury. Simpson did have a much better stretch against K-Stats but would think that Stowers would’ve DS for her if she was available.

Much needed match 1 win, and without Stowers.

I adore her so much. Sad that she’s only here for 2 seasons.

Prior to this season - I had no clue she came to USA for college. I saw Bibinbe at the 2019 FIVB World Cup for Cameroon. I don't know if it's been or I've shared this on the Baylor thread, but, it was pretty cool to see. Bibinbe comes on at 28 all in the 4th for those who don't want to watch the whole video:

Very good weekend for Baylor against UCF. Really, this last stretch of 5 wins has come with solid play by the Bears, and in the absence of Stowers. It'll be interesting to see what the lineup looks like moving forward, but it's going to be hard to take Simpson out of it. Her and McGhee have been great over the last few weeks and have led a very balanced offense. Sczech has also contributed more consistently, and has been a huge presence at the net. Stats for the Baylor pins over the last 5 matches:
| McGhee | Simpson | Sczech | Kills/set | 4.32 | 3.69 | 2.00 | Hitting % | .285 | .327 | .252 | Blocks | 6 | 7 | 19 | Digs | 17 | 10 | 12 | Aces | 9 | 2 | - |
Not having Stowers has also led to Baylor playing with 3 DS's. Freshman Tehani Ulufatu has really stepped up, playing as the DS for Sczech as Keene has moved to DS'ing for McGhee. Her defense has been much better than Keene's, who looks more comfortable in middle back. Collectively, all of their serve receive (Ulufatu, Keene, Dacosta, and Briseno) has looked very good. According to Paul Sunderland, Baylor is the best passing team in the Big 12. That has really benefited Bibinbe, who has averaged 2.47 k/s on a .410 % over the last 5 matches. If I were McGuyre, I would be hesitant to change up this lineup as it has really been clicking. Maybe Stowers comes in as a DS when she's ready, but for now, I'm sticking with the physicality of Simpson and McGhee.

Baylor won set 1, 25-11 over West Virginia. They’re doing some interesting things with the lineup. McGhee playing 6-rotations. Murphy keeping the other OH spot. Keene getting some time in the front row and had a huge kill on an overpass.
