I love Anderson and I hated to see her leave Auburn, but the hitting errors are just part of how she plays. She will almost always have solid kill numbers and some of the balls she puts down you would swear leave a dent in the floor, but her hitting % is usually lower. She averaged about .170 over the two seasons at Auburn and had nearly 800 kills. Unbelievable athlete, a wonderful person, and fully capable of taking over a match, but in general, lacks consistency.

I remember watching her. Gets you very excited but also hurts the team.

MSU takes set 1 against Western Kentucky (Receiving Votes) 25-15.
Preston started over Holdem and Muisenga is setting all the way around so no 6-2 thus far. Love the flexibility we have to throw Courtley/Preston/Holdem on the left or right side at any given moment depending on matchup/if a player is struggling.
Will be very interesting to see if this is tinkering or if it’s something more permanent. Hitters seem much better connected with just Muisenga rather than the 6-2.

Holdem has been struggling this season. I wonder if it’s an injury or just a slump. Hope she bounces back to last year’s form.
This game would be a really good win for MSU.

Really hoping it’s just a sophomore slump now that there’s more film on her. It’s hard to come back and replicate that when people know what you got. I think she’ll end up back on the court somehow she’s passing so well to not be out long.

MSU loses set 3 and down 5-4 in set 4.
Danyle Courtley goes down with what looks like a knee injury. Really unfortunate as I think she’s really done well on the right side.
Random Carmen Way sighting? Really intriguing shes the first off the bench instead of Okur or Mia Hood in this kind of game.

I’m not watching (only looking at LiveStats) but why is Doezma out? Very random to see Waye and Grace Kelly in right now. Looks like they went back to the 6-2.

She landed but the leg buckled a little and the way she went down I’m really worried it’s gonna be long term. She really looked like she was in some serious pain. It makes zero sense to return back to the 6-2 when you just lost one of your starting OPP’s to an injury. Grack did very well when she was called on.

Did Doezma go out too? Doezma didn’t get hurt they just subbed her out. Which was truly strange especially for Carmen Waye of all players. All things considered, just glad we were able to pull it out. WKU is a quality team that was receiving >35 votes in the top 25 poll. That’s now two W’s against receiving vote teams.

After winning the first 2 sets 25-15, 25-17 against a good WKU team, MSU is locked in a battle in the 3rd set and Johnson quickly abandons the 5-1 ?

You’re right - putting Waye in was an interesting choice, especially since it seemed like Doezma was having an effective match statistically. I also would have expected Okur to be the third middle in the depth chart.

Good first two weeks for MSU with two wins over RV teams. Really wish the Northern Colorado match would have ended differently.
I haven’t seen Danyle Courtley on the sidelines since Friday’s game, so her injury must be bad. Hope she has a quick recovery.
I hope they stick with a 5-1 and a situational 6-2 if needed. That offers more outside sub opportunities if someone is having a bad match.
The revolving door in the middle has been interesting. Nil Okur came off the bench a few times and was a huge spark. I think her and Kulig are the way to go for now.

With Courtley going down it feels like it makes sense to move Doezema back to the right and start Okur in the middle Coming into the season you’d think this would’ve been more of an obvious move but Doezma has got 0 reps as the Opp and even has her bio changed to MB in her player profile. Considering we run the 6-2 and Leah made Courtley, Preston and Grack try and get reps at Opp, I think it’s safe to say Doezma is squarely in the MH2 spot. Even though it seems like Leah has had a short leash there giving other spot minutes to Okur, Waye and even Kaya Hood? (Surprisingly not Mia? Wtf? Lol) This might sound controversial but the lineup id like to see get an extended look is a 5-1 with Anderson/Preston OH1/2 Kulig/Doezma MB1/MB2 Muisenga as the S Holdem Opp. I know Holdem passes well, but Preston has looked to be the better left side. Meanwhile I think Moore really hasn’t upped the level on the right side. I think Holdem would be a plus blocker and she can play all the way around whereas Moore doesn’t have the ball control. I don’t know what the staff will try, but it just feels hard to leave Holdem off the court. Also the few swings we did see were absolute missiles from Holdem…..we have to do something to alleviate the left side pressure and I think this could be an interesting option. But for real we need to end this 6-2 garbage I hate it. We just don’t have two opposites. Especially if Doezma has no interest.
