With the Pro Volleyball Federation 14 months out, any speculations as to how this could effect resignations and coach searches within the college world?

Why would anyone give up a good college job for whatever the PVF is?

Why would anyone give up a good college job for whatever the PVF is? That would be part of the speculation. If the players are honestly gonna make $60000 + profit sharing AND there's only going to be 8-10 teams, then you have to assume the talent level could be pretty high. I don't know how over-seas leagues contracts are structured, but I'm sure a lot of US talent playing in other countries will want to come back. One of the articles has mentioned an entry draft for players coming out of college, so there's the draw of building not just a team, but a league from scratch. If the owners are offering salaries comparable to Div I programs (And if the owners of this new league want to be taken seriously you have to assume real money will be discused), you have to think some coaching talent will be pulled.

Why would anyone give up a good college job for whatever the PVF is? I’m sure the pay will be less. And you don’t know if the league will fold. But I have to think the time demands will be MASSIVELY less. So it could be appealing for some people.

If you ask coaches if they’d take less money if they didn’t have to recruit, I think many would say yes. How much less would they take? That’s an individual question.

Like whenever Cook decides to retire, I could absolutely see him coaching one of these teams for a few years on the way out.
Cathy George in Grand Rapids?

I think this is an enormous "if." Possibly. I know past forays into women's pro volleyball in the states have been little more than vaporware, so these articles and announcements feel like "the boy who cries 'wolf'". But, at the end of that fable, there was, indeed, a wolf.

Kayla Banwarth coaching a team in Nebraska could make sense.

Now that we have four markets announced (the least number of teams to hold a season, IMO), I would like to bump this thread. Wild speculation welcome. Reasoning behind speculation preferred.
