I recall Terry Pettit tore his knee up pretty bad several years ago when he was jogging. Of course I'm thinking of becoming a Husker coach some day so just to protect myself, I'm not going to jog.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry or just smite someone, but I've never known anyone to get injured from jogging. This is beyond my understanding of how the universe works.

I see some top teams have scheduled to play each other twice (observing UH, PSU and NU). Is this a normal practice provided they may have to meet again in the NCAA?

This weekend Pacific, Pepperdine & Penn State come to Lincoln. NU and Penn St play on Sunday afternoon Pacific playing the "sacrificial lamb" role this year.

I don't know how Cook's injury happened other than he was jogging along the riverfront in Columbus and felt something pop. That was on a Friday and he was not able to get it X-Rayed until Tuesday. Pettit was jogging in a place called Wilderness Park and it is pretty remote in there with very rough terrain. I don't recall the name of his injury but it was worse than an ACL. He had to crawl and drag himself for a pretty long distance over this terrain to a highway quite a ways away and wait to flag down a car to get him to the hospital. He had to spend quite a bit of time in a wheelchair and then a full leg cast before the rehab could get going in earnest. As Cook said, this gives you a slight appreciation for athletes who get injured. It's no fun. Personally, I tore ligaments in my foot jogging also when I stepped on the edge of a curb. I was in a walking cast for quite a while and figured if it was a walking cast, it could also double as a sand volleyball playing cast. It didn't work so good for that because it had to be replaced two times.

Pacific playing the "sacrificial lamb" role this year. When this was scheduled a couple of years ago, it was thought that Pacific would be a better team than they have been lately. I believe Minnesota is competing in The Players Challenge next year but don't know the other team.

PSU and NU should roll right through Pepperdine and Pacific. When is the PSU-NU match? I'd love to listen to it, as long as it doesn't conflict with a Florida match.

It will be played on Sunday at 3:00 PM CDT. I saw that it will be televised in Nebraska on the Educational TV network. At times in the past this has meant that they were doing the production work for someone else, like CSTV. Does anyone know if this game will be on CSTV or some other "national" cable network?

The matches this weekend will be televised on Netv 2 and times can be viewed on the Nebraska Educational TV network website..... This network is much more difficult to find then NETV 1. Irritating!!! I wish the University and the network would fiquire this out way before the season gets started... It seems to me that the greatest goal of the University would be too expose their No. 1 team to as many viewers as possilbe given the popularity and the ability to raise lots of $$$$ for the educational network by having those matches on.... I realize it is better than most but if you are going to be one of the premier Volleyball programs in the nation find a way!!!!

I'm sure this changes the view of some of the Gopher fans who went on and on about Minnesota playing without Florian and Cumpston. John Cook beat the gophers on one leg. I'm kidding of course so let's not start a whole thread responding to this.

She was in Lincoln staking out a second attempt in case her henchman in Columbus couldn't get the job done the first time.
