Just curious but is there a history / is it even common for players to take it easy the season before the Olympics? Not really answering your question, but historically China has recalled all its NT players to the domestic league for the Olympic season. That's why Zhu Ting got yanked off Vakif for 2019-2020 but kept open her option to return.

I think she’s just unlucky with the transfermarket’s conjunctures: unfortunately, no CL team seems to need her (at the moment), for different reasons (foreigner quota, transfer strategies, they already have a good setter under contract, etc.). that's part of it. they can settle for mediocre. lol (looking at you Milano) I kind of wonder how Italy's NT season is going to shape up. To me their biggest glaring hole is the setter position, provided that Sylla and Pietrini can shake off this season's league performance (in fairness, off very mediocre setters). Maybe Bosio will finally get her chance?

FB and Carlini didn’t work out because FB is waiting to officially sign a different American setter. One up-and-coming superstar, Puerto Rican league standout, Saige Ka’aha’aina-Torres.

Those are all kind of bad options by domestic league performance. Loveth has predictably the highest kill % given that she has the best setter. Next up would you believe that it's Cate?

I don't know how good these clubs were at the time, but a glimpse of where the Americans* were before Rio 2016: Glass -- thee Imoco Lloyd -- Casalmaggiore (ha!) Murphy -- Japan Lowe -- Busto Larson -- Eczacıbaşı Hill -- Vakifbank Robinson -- Imoco (ha ha!) Adams -- Eczacıbaşı Dietzen -- Fenerbahçe Akinradewo -- Switzerland Thompson -- Switzerland Banworth -- the Morgan Hentz School of Professional Volleyball Overseas is Not For Me But Look What I Can Do in the USA Gym By Myself 🙃 * All information was pulled from each player's Wiki page. Leave me alone fact checkers!

I'm pretty sure Carlini has dealt with several injuries in her career, and also has mentioned how she doesn't feel 100% (which is why I think she is planning to retire after Paris). I wanted to see her in Fenerbahce but if she'd rather be in Aydin for personal reasons then good for her.
