kinda off topic but Carli Lloyd and Madi Kingdon played their first beach event today. They were the 48th seed in qualifiers. They beat the 17th seed, but fell to the 16th seed (Kylie DeBerg and someone else) in the second qualification round. Actually they played their first event back in late May when Madi first got home. They didn't make it out of the qualifiers. They are a new team and will take some time to gel and get their sand legs back (at least for Madi, Carli is a relative newcomer to the sport). I haven't looked to see who DeBerg was playing with but, still tough for a new team to play against NCAA players who have just come off a full beach season. It will be fun to see their progress! |
