Y’all should watch her press conference. Starts around 13:15. I loved every single word she said. She’s seriously such an amazing human being and coach. Wonderful developer of both the student (person) and the athlete part of players. I can’t wait to see what she does with the program. She’s an inspiration! She posted on her Instagram yesterday helping run concessions for her kid’s basketball game. Who does that on the day they’re named head coach!? She also touches on Carlie Cisneros not worried about the transition. m.facebook.com/video.php/?video_id=492923159621449I haven't followed Arizona much recently. I assume that your opinion is based on something in addition to that press conference. Although it was mostly normal (although a bit intense), I also saw Stubbs throw a wee bit of shade and demonstrate a little defensiveness that I wasn't expecting. I was a manager for her for three seasons

I felt like she was a little nervous today, for sure. That's mostly what I saw in her. I do think she's still disappointed about her time at NC State, but there wasn't anything unusual in what she said about that.

I was a manager for her for three seasons I understand that. What I’m asking is whether those moments in the press conference are suggestive of a little bit of the “edge” that Rubio also demonstrated. They’ve obviously worked together a long time, but they’re obviously not the same person. How much continuation will there be and how much change will occur in this transition, in your view. Your initial post was exuberant about watching the press conference, but I didn’t find it as convincing as you did.

Your initial post was exuberant about watching the press conference, but I didn’t find it as convincing as you did. Rita definitely wasn’t as forthcoming as I would have liked her to be. For example, when Kim asked her about possible differences in coaching philosophy, she didn’t offer any insight. She rather talked about how the student athletes needs have changed, which Rubio already mentioned. I know she isn’t going to spill all the tea, but a little sip would have gone along way.

I think you will understand where that comes from when I write about her tomorrow. Or you can read this article I wrote about her back in 2020 that talks about her background in the meantime. It's really important to understand her journey as a person.

An underwhelming pick, but hopefully she has been waiting her turn to take Arizona volleyball in a totally different direction

I mean she was also a part of seven 20 win seasons in her first stint as assistant

Rita has been at Arizona for 19 years as a coach. About a decade before going to NC State and another after returning. Where is the rest?

Rita has been at Arizona for 19 years as a coach. About a decade before going to NC State and another after returning. Where is the rest? Unfortunately, the coaching profession is very much a "what have you done for me lately" kind of gig. So I think having a truncated list isn't the worst thing. Especially when you're going back 10 years. Most assistants aren't sticking at a program that long in general. Fortunately, none of those season results were with her as a head coach - so admin will be working off a fresh slate with her as the new HC. After the 2025 season? That's when I think most people will start talking hot/cold seat. Because she has been there all those years as the recruiting coordinator, those are all her recruits, and by 2025 she will have hopefully implemented her own systems in addition to all the athletes being her own recruits.

I hope she gets through 2027. that would be five seasons and the senior season of Carlie Cisneros, who she recruited.
