Clearly the succession plan was in place all along. AZ insiders here seem to think she's a good choice.

5/12 women head coaches in the PAC now, even losing one in the offseason @ ASU, including 2 women of color.

Now the big question is who she will hire for her assistants. They need a pins coach, and once they can hire the volunteer coach, I would say a passing/defense coach is needed. I think Chan is a little lucky, I don’t think her Rita’s first act will be to fire him and have to start from scratch. His hiring was very underwhelming to me.

Big East has 8/11 (KBB Creighton, Pfeffenberger Xavier, Persico St Johns, Herman-Kimball UConn, Clark Butler, Thompson Seton Hall, Zidek DePaul, Royer-Johnson Providence)

The SEC has 7 female coaches out of 13 current volleyball programs. They did during the 2022 season as well.

Y’all should watch her press conference. Starts around 13:15. I loved every single word she said. She’s seriously such an amazing human being and coach. Wonderful developer of both the student (person) and the athlete part of players. I can’t wait to see what she does with the program. She’s an inspiration! She posted on her Instagram yesterday helping run concessions for her kid’s basketball game. Who does that on the day they’re named head coach!? She also touches on Carlie Cisneros not worried about the transition. m.facebook.com/video.php/?video_id=492923159621449

I will have a story about Rita tomorrow based on both that press conference and a one-on-one interview I did with her afterward. I am not going to publish tonight because there's an Arizona men's basketball game and her story will get lost in the shuffle on our site.

I assume that your opinion is based on something in addition to that press conference. Although it was mostly normal (although a bit intense), I also saw Stubbs throw a wee bit of shade and demonstrate a little defensiveness that I wasn't expecting.
