I'm all for it. Almost all of NIL is sham payments that exceed true market value. Although I'm sure the athlete has to pay income tax on the full amount.

I'm surprised how little talk there is about what transfers are being offered in NIL to commit to Penn State. Sources close to the program are confirming 20-30K price tag is real.

Is that more than what other top B1G schools offer?  I would assume that's normal for the top programs in the country.

That sounds really high to me. Is this to all of the players? Or is this more a deal with big time recruits?

I think the problem is the coach is making promises on NIL money, I don't believe that is allowed. But the rules sure aren't clear.

Lools like the NCAA doesn't like the current environment and wants to regulate NIL by requiring all payments to be public. I'm not sure they have the authority to do that.

I don't dispute any of that, I'm just saying that the original idea was for things like this. Katie Ledecky should be able to take money from Speedo and swim for Stanford. Kids should be able to sign posters for money.

Everyone knew what it was going to become, but the sponsors of the bills in various state legislatures weren't arguing for what has come of their work.
