Landfair not being a unanimous pick is wild lol and I know she’s streaky but who did Londot piss off?!😭 Especially because it’s looking like she’s going to carry OSU on her back this season

Big badger fan, but Nebraska got snubbed out on some players being preseason big ten. Lindsay Krause & Martin Beason are probably the two who are most deserving of remaining huskers. Freshman don’t seem to ever make the list, which makes sense because they are not proven yet in the B1G Krause? nah. Beason should’ve probably been there though over Sarah Franklin (who might not be playing). I’m surprised they put both TTA and Franklin… I don't follow the Badger thread - why might Franklin not be playing?

She had surgery back in May/June and the recovery time is pretty long from the sound of it

While they give unanimous selections to last year's setter and freshman of the year, they don't give it to the player of the year? Make it make sense...
I would've taken Holland over Mruzik, Beason or Murray over Franklin, and potentially Colvin over Rader.

Six intra-B1G transfers on that list. And half of those are at Wisconsin.

Four B1G conference championships in a row... If you can't beat 'em, join 'em! And, if you can't recruit HS players, poach others! Transfers and HS recruits are equally valid ways to put a team together in this era. But if it means that the best 4-5 players for the middle-bottom conference teams move to the top 3-4 teams every year, something is lost. I hope the Covid year issues exacerbated this season’s movement.

Never mind all the myriad of other NIL programs they have going on. Don’t know how much more you need to see to feel like something is definitely lost, because it’s absolutely not just a Covid thing.

In the postseason, not close. Krause by a mile. Both have an excellent chance to play their way into being All Big Ten and All American.

Now that the SEC has announced they’ll be reinstating a conference tournament, what are people’s thoughts on the B1G starting up their own tournament? I think they should consider it for 2024, when USC and UCLA are added. I am not sure how you give each team a balanced schedule without a tournament. The teams that have to play Minnesota, Nebraska, Wisconsin, and Penn State twice in a year will get shafted each year.

I agree on that— but, for just one example, Covid had five Ohio State grads out of scholarships and looking for new homes, so I do think things were worse this year for that reason. And maybe you are right, maybe the transfers will increase again next year for a different reason.

But the best players from the worst teams will consistently look to move to the better teams. That I feel certain of. On a personal level, I wish there had been some way for OSU to keep those players on the team. I would have liked to see what they could accomplish collectively with another go around.

How is the conference player of the year not unanimously selected to the preseason team lol? Also, looks like Lexi is gonna be putting in some work to get Nebraska to 2nd place in the conference lolol

We haven't had a balanced schedule since Nebraska crashed the party. A sixteen team BigTen Conference will just be a bit more wacky and unbalanced. That said, if they stay without a tournament to determine the champion, it is unlikely that someone will have to play all four of the teams you listed -- with a presumed 20 conference matches, each school would play ten teams once, and five teams home&away. For four of those five to be MN/NE/WI/PSU would be... really unlucky. Sadly (because I really don't like the thought of a tournament) my guess is that we'll end up split into two 8-team divisions, and won't even have home&away against all of the division rivals. They could, I guess, split into four 4-team divisions, and have six home&away matches against your division rivals, and then a single home *or* away match against the other 12 teams. Eighteen matches leaves the final weekend for a tournament, with either the four division champs, or the eight division top-2 placers, or something weird with wildcards added. I expect to be disappointed.
