In theory - getting information from club coaches about players on teams they do not coach but play all the time is less biased than the information from their own players. Someone compiling the list would need to take that into account. As for how you play with (and against) - you have the same thing when looking at college players. Good players on bad passing teams will not have a high K%. That's what Tawa did regularly when he was at PVB. He always solicited opposing club coach impressions of players. Thats the best way to do it. These clubs pimping their own players should be taken with a grain of salt. Opposing coaches is a much better way to get it.

Tawa has developed his own top 100 list for the 2023 - 2026 classes and is releasing 5 names selected randomly from the rankings each week. It seems like there is somewhat of a consensus among Tawa, PrepDig and PrepVolleyball on about 15 of the top 20 players who have been listed in the top 20 on all 3 lists. They also are listed as 5 stars prospects on VballRecruiter too. Those players are likely the core top 15-20 players nationally when you consider all the rankings collectively. Except those lists are influenced by the other lists. No one has the resources to do this correctly so they are looking at other lists when making their own to provide some sort of legitimacy, I guess? IDK. But the point is that matching names don’t mean much when they’re all looking at each other to create the lists.

Any info on Suli Davis’ commitment? I know she’s talked to BYU a lot but I’m sure a handful of schools are recruiting her.

I certainly hope these kids are asleep at midnight, and coaches wait until the morning to call them. Email is a different story, but c'mon, let's not be ridiculous on the phone calls.

Well, the problem is it works. A call at midnight from the head coach is an indication of priority. They can only do one at a time. It’s family dependent obviously, but these ladies have been waiting a long time for this date. Most of them wouldn’t be able to sleep in any case. That’s not universally true, but it’s often true. And you don’t want to be the head coach that loses out on their priority because they wanted to let the players sleep, but it was interpreted that coach didn’t want them as much as others.

Here is what I know: 1. College Coaches don't care about any of these rankings. They rely on the relationships they have with Club Directors and independent recruiters that tell them what kids are out there that can play at their school. 2. Red Hat Lady is a Social Media machine that is cashing checks on the backs of players that everyone in the gym already knows about. How many D2 and NAIA recruits is she promoting? 3. PrepDig and Prepvolleyball are subscription services making money on clicks. The sport has grown beyond their capacity. 4. TAWA was once the guru in the space, but the sport has grown beyond his reach as well. 5. High School Football is the standard for all recruiting. It is this way because it is much easier to cover. There is no Club Football.

When I was 16 or 17 - and it was the summer. I was 10X more likely to be awake at midnight than 10 or 11 in the morning.
And if I am to receive a call that I want - I would much rather receive that call now than wait until the morning.

Other than individual Twitter/ Instagram posts for programs and athletes, what's a good way to see summer developments in 2025 recruiting in one place? (other than subscription sites)... This thread? or another one on this site?

The coaches definitely reach out at midnight (they did wait until it was midnight our time). Most were emails but I think there were a few texts, too. She slept right through the texts but contacted them back at a reasonable time in the morning.

I definitely phrased that incorrectly, I just know she has lots of close ties to BYU and heard that she is interested.

Someone posted that the first on line announcement of a commit last year was on June 17th. I remember how frustrating it was to wait through the 15th and the 16th before the shoes started to fall. On the other hand, if an athlete has offers from two of their preferred schools in hand, it's probably prudent to pause and review what you want. Cheers.
