Random, probably stupid, question. It might just be me, but this is the first year I’m hearing this much emphasis put on camps as they pertain to recruiting. I know we’re all reading tea leaves still, but do camps really have a strong correlation to where top recruits end up? Or is this a byproduct of the new recruiting calendar? Camps are everything for recruitment. Kids have a chance to get a feel for a program. This also has a downside. I’ve heard coaches saying “no camp, no offer..” unfortunate for those athletes who may not be able to attend. There is a huge expense involved with these camps; travel, parents missing work etc. club expenses alone are astronomical. Many of these players just got back from AAU or GJNC. Swinging extra camps is not always doable. |

Yes camps are very important. Some coaches won't offer kids if they don't come to camp. Definitely makes it difficult on kids. Lots of camps overlap. Plus there is the distance factor, kids/parents working, club tryouts, HS practice, family vacations all kinds of things. Not to mention the expense. |

Just confirmed that Nebraska did make an offer to an OPP. They were only considering 2 and the offer was made right after dream team camp.

For any of the West Coast club folks...what's the story on Keila Gabriel? 6'3 lefty RS hitter who moves well in her 15U highlights...injury?

I watched her play the final match at JOs on July 6th with no signs of anything wrong. Great match BTW vs Vision from NorCal (Wave lost 18-20 in 3rd) who avenged an early tournament loss to Wave (also very close). Are you asking because she hasn't committed yet or you heard something? |

I randomly saw some highlights from last year and thought she looked impressive for 15. With her size and athleticism, I figured she'd be highly sought after. |
