FGCU is a program that has had 20+ wins every season since 2014 (19-11) that year. They regularly beat teams from bigger conferences. Good program doesnt mean Title contenders. It’s pretty straightforward imo, they win way more than they lose and don’t have bad culture issues with their players or coaching staff. That same standard should go across any conference or classification (P5/Mid Major/Small School/DII/DIII/Etc) FGCU Volleyball = Good Program. To you.

Let's be honest, they have 3 D1 tournament appearances in school history and only 2 post season wins in school history. So, no. I wouldn't say they're good. So there are roughly 20 “good” programs in the country. give or take

I always find this interesting. Just screams a club looking for attention. "Look at us! College coaches came to our gym!" For the love, people, act like you've been there before Since the acquisition by 3step, Tribe has had a lot of changes. IMO their increased instagram presence is one of the least annoying....

Natalie Wardlow is the middle you’re referring to. Yes, she has a ton of upside and was a game changer in the games I saw this week. It appears she has many high level P5 schools in the mix. In the games I watched more than half the Big 10 schools had one or more coaches courtside in addition to all the final 4 teams this past season. The Ne One Synergy is really fun, fast-paced team to watch that only dropped 1 game all weekend to Surfside, the champs, and beat 2 other top 10 teams at NIT to finish 5th overall. Both are nice players, but are a stretch to play in upper 60% of the Big Ten.

When talking about quality teams, it should be in comparison to all programs, not just programs like Nebraska, Florida, or USC. In comparison to all programs, I'd argue that year in and year out FGCU is in the top 15% or so.

Since the acquisition by 3step, Tribe has had a lot of changes. IMO their increased instagram presence is one of the least annoying.... Curious as to what other changes 3Step has made or will be making. 3step has really increased the social media presence. This is fine. Of course that presence is pretty focused on the elite teams which doesn't exactly make the other girls feel great. We now play primarily in 3step tournaments. No real problem with that conceptually, but we play the same teams over and over. Instead of going to Triple Crown this weekend, Tribe was at some small tournament 3step was doing in Orlando. Tribe wins every division of every tournament because the other teams just aren't that strong. Tribe literally won the open division in every age group this last weekend. And FWIW, most of the teams were from South Florida so we all drove to Orlando just to play the same teams we did two weeks ago in Miami. The one decent tournament we played in was the MLK tournament where they brought in some stronger 3step teams and OTVA showed up. That was decent. All of the 3step tournaments have this really %*$#ty video service rather than BallerTV. It costs a huge amount - $50 a weekend. And the service sucks. Doesn't show the score so hard to really follow. Coaches now have to sign contracts. They aren't that bad but typical corporate BS. There is this new app we are using. Pretty glitchy. Only supposed to text through that but I think every team now has their own group chats on normal text. The director of the club committed to 2-3 years and we will see what happens when that is over. They have promised a big new facility that hasn't emerged yet. We have more teams but that just stretches the good coaches and they have signed up a bunch of new coaches. We also don't have enough practice space.

It's hard to be genuine, critical, while also objective and non whiny, and I feel like you navigated that space was well as anyone possibly could. The biggest problem for me would be the concentration on playing in 3step tournaments exclusively. I understand why that would make sense from their perspective. They're trying to create a vertical operation where as much money and exposure is kept in house as much as possible. That's where they're going to build their revenue base from. But from the girls' perspective they're missing out on key showcases in front of coaches who have the capability of offering a scholarship. The most talented kids won't suffer too much, but the ones on the edge, will have fewer opportunities to make the right impression. Even if they still get a scholarship opportunity, maybe their options aren't as robust as they would have been if they hadn't been limited to 3step run tournaments.

In fairness, our elite teams are now going to play 3/4 qualifiers in a row. That is good. Not sure they have had the competition to really be ready though. We will see.... I would also say that none of this is the Tribe people. They are given direction by 3step.

Not a stretch at all considering both players were named to the all tournament team for the TC NIT 16s division by PrepVolleyball with one ranked in top 20 nationally and the other top 40 by PrepVolleyball.

The Tribe feedback about 3 Step might be specific to Tribe. To my knowledge, the majority of the other 3 Step clubs went to Triple Crown (Munciana/KIVA/Tri-State for example) and are still at the majority of the same events. I understand that those events might have already been in place but there hasn't been a shift in their tournament exposure. And, the MLK tournament was a great, new event that allowed Florida teams to stay near home. We'd all like to host events in our own backyard to generate revenue and sleep in our own beds to reduce costs. However, building new events takes time. Bluegrass started as a 70-80 team event in Louisville at local club facilities. It is now at 150 courts and at major event on the calendar.

I've heard great stuff about her, as well. Keri Leimbach seems to be well thought of at libero as well. With Mauch & Choboy headed to the Huskers, it will be interesting what she does along with club teammate Natalie Wardlow Cook and the other Husker coaches were courtside for many of NE One Synergy games that I saw this weekend at Show Me Qualifier looking at both of these players. There were also myriad of other Big 10 and P5 schools courtside too. That was also the case in the few games I saw the week before at Northern Lights Qualifier. So they obviously are of high interest to many programs including Huskers.
