Goodmorning and welcome to Chester Coins rumor mill. I am chester coins, local Miva beat reporter and former player in the NCAA. To say I know ball is an understatement; I am ball -Coins
Today we will be discussing I great endevor, one that I hope gains trackion with me bringing it to the light. If I squash this move by making an article about it, I may never be able to show face on this board ever again.
Iowa has had a huge increase in male interest in volleyball over the course of the last 10 years. Top talent has gone D1 from this state and it is about time that the state has a D1 progrum for itself. Some might think that Iowa or Iowa state may be the most suitable places for a team, which may be true but title 9 makes this possibility pretty minisule. They could always try converting the naia schools in Iowa that compete at a high level to the Miva. But every attempt to do that in the past has gone to the wayside. So, how do we bring D1/2 mens volleyball to the great plains of Iowa with all these blocks in the way?
Traveling east from Iowa Cityover the rolling flatlands of eastern Iowa you come up on the Mississippi river, and on the other side of that, beautiful MIVA college and perenial Miva tournament participator Quincy university. Top execs in the MIVA have talked in hushed tones of the idea of creating an exact replica university on the other side of the mississippi in Iowa. With exact proportions to the historic venue of old and naming rights, this second university will bring the beautiful game to those unfortunate enough to live in Iowa. No need to come up with no building plans, naming rights and curriculum. BEHOLD: one of the most ingenious idea of our time —Quincy 2
From what my sources are telling me, Ideas for this originated when members of the Miva board had a meeting talking about this expansion but could not come up with a solution. Then, one member had an epiphany: just make the same thing over there. Businessman Eugene Krabs was able to accomplish a similar feat in 2007 (Figure 1.1)
(Figure 1.1)
Quincy and Quincy 2 would be a rivalry for the ages, marketed as a turf war where one side gets control of the port. Now I know what your thinking and I already have the answer: they will be the quincy hawks and the quincy 2 hawks, with offset colors. Local talent would flock to such a university and can Help cultivate a unique culture between the two quincy universities.
This is just a rumor and one that has been gaining traction over the last few weeks. I will continue to monitor it and keep you updated on this potentially historic move.
