Still can’t get over how Zhu tipped when Kelsey was acting as the middle blocker in crunch time lol. Old Zhu would never

Italian League Site's best passers 1. Panetoni 2. Brenda 3. Schwan (??) 4. Moki 5. Moro 6. Kelsey VM 1. Moro 2. Brenda 3. Kelsey 4. Panetoni 5. Moki (VM has Schwan at 2.08 lol) LVF as usual aggregates some of their stats wrong... The numbers for "top receivers" here are completely off. Schwan for example has 29.7 % perfect reception, not 48 % according to their own match stats (they do show the correct number for her here).

I added some regular season stats from LVF to a spreadsheet here. Some of them are available at the LVF site too but I believe they have some errors in their aggregation (some of the stats don't match what you get if you aggregate the individual match stats and it was the same thing last season...). I also added some stats for attendance for the teams home matches, players with the most MVP awards etc. which I don't think LVF list. Same spreadsheet stats but for all (reg+play-offs) season here (or just for the play-offs here). For example OH/L with > 60 % pos. rec: OH/OP with > 40 % KP: Going back to the discussion of how often the players get blocked, Haak was blocked only 22 times in all season, in 1123 swings (or once every 51th swing)...

Ooh, I like the heat map. Egonu... so hard to defend that. 1 in every 9 balls she just blasts out. Meanwhile Plummer out here playing blind, spraying into the block.

Im looking at Plummer's being blocked on VM right now... (in the playoffs)
there's a pretty common theme
It's quite literally every time (80-90% of the blocks) are when she's drawn inside (either through a bad set or an OOS set not to the pin). That cuts off the angle she wants to hit cross court.
the rest are on tip/jousts. (outside of two Antropova stuffs)

It would be interesting to see stats on the percentage of swings that don’t score but give your team an advantage in the rally. Zhu’s low error is great but also feels like she was dug and opposing team transitioned a ton (based on eye test)

In NCAA, it was Rachael Kidder who I think of as having value way beyond her hitting % because her empty swings so often came back easy.

Her empty swings were simply free balls all series long

There didn't exist a "Zhu empty swing" back then.
