So FIU grabs the final at large spot. Can’t say I would’ve been too surprised if that was any of the bubble teams.
Nothing else too surprising here.

No surprises. Some of the seeding is dictated by the mandated avoidance of conference matchups in the first round. FIU is probably seeded too high.
As ubiquitously expected, four teams each from the CCSA and PAC 12. Which left only two remaining at-large bids.
Hawaii was a shoe in for one of them.
Only Washington has any real claim for disappointment. The other bubble teams weren't good enough. Heck, FIU and Washington probably weren't either. But someone had to be #8.
Now, get ready for a crazy Friday.
Predictions anyone? I'll start by taking the Islanders in the opening round dual Wednesday.

I think 8-11 was a match-up process for the committee
Beach @ #9 ahead of Stanford, STanford beat Beach 2x, and beat UCLA? so Beach jumps Stanford and Hawaii (Hawaii beat Beach 3x) - really doesn't make sense, just have to assume they didn't want Cal playing Stanford 1st round so they just obviously shuffled it lol
on paper moved Beach up, but based on overall record didn't make sense. Stanford should have been #9 and not even much of a debatable discussion.
Cal 8, Hawaii 9/10, Stanford 10/9, Beach 11 would have made a lot more sense. teh resulting matchups though are good

Not really surprised FIU got the final bid, as they were basically tied with Washington and Tulane. Plus FIU had the best win of that group, over Hawaii and probably best SOS as I outlined in another thread.
What is surprising is that Rita changed and I assume followed the sandbagging rules this season.

The pre-Championship manual states that two teams from the same conference can’t play in the first round. So it seems very likely that the reason Stanford was dropped from 9 to 10. And I agree that Beach over Hawaii is odd.

And I agree that Beach over Hawaii is odd. Maybe winning conference unofficially counts for more? overall not a big deal, in the scheme of things but here's what makes the decision so 'unusual' and seemingly would be hard for any committee to justify based on the seeding, Beach didn't beat a single top 10 team, While Hawaii has 5 top 10 wins. just make no sense it's like the committee didn't even think it thru, lol, one of those decisions would be interesting to see a committee member fumble all over themselves to explain what kind of data they were really looking at it's as if they are giving massively huge disproportional credit to a conference championship and one 'bad loss' (cal Poly) to justify the order. or it's like horshoes and gave Beach a lot of credit for leaners

I have seen references to Stein not placing teams correctly in lineup and then above Rita also possibly “sandbagging” teams. I have two other teams that I have long thought did the same. I thought rules were in place to keep teams from doing that. Why are teams and especially coaches allowed to do that if the rules are pretty specific that you should place the teams in order of ability? Is it not enforceable or able to be be enforced. Seems like coaches would self monitor cause it is not fair.

I can agree with Washington not making it in, as I said 10 days ago.
I definitely would not have chosen LSU over LMU, seems crazy.
Beach jumping from 11 to 7 seems overdone, considering previous ranking movements.

Agree. Stanford and Hawaii should beat the better seeded opponents.

Agree. Stanford and Hawaii should beat the better seeded opponents. I disagree. I believe you significantly underestimate Grand Canyon and Loyola Marymount. Stanford and Hawaii CAN beat them, but SHOULD is an exaggeration in my opinion.
