I'm sure some IG-stalker will come along and cross-reference their hair in the video with their IG pics to get a timeframe of when it was taken LOL If you're talking about me, I was just looking for confirmation if that was Sakanoko or not in the video. Him training and practicing alongside Colton and more importantly with a real pro club is an added benefit coming in which is why I was curious to begin with. I was shooting in the dark there.....

Thought this was pretty neat to watch Not sure when this was filmed but Mandic still was training with the boys. Doesn't look like any kind of official sanctioned practice but just some messin' around on their free time. Video was post 2hrs ago however. So maybe crossing fingers it may be just a credit or schooling issue thats being addressed rn. The go pro POV with Tread setting was neat af. He has such soft hands and a beautiful set. Good to see that they are practicing moving Kurt around offensively. Tread setting is pure butter! Future captain for sure! I think Tread will be more risky with setting the middles than Thelle was.

When does the preseason poll come out? I'm guess Hawaii will be 3rd or 4th going into the season.

What makes you have Penn State at 3?

NOT #1 is a good place to be. Too much pressure being #1 so early. The team lost some big pieces so being NOT #1 will allow the team to work the new pieces into the lineup and peek at the end of the year.

Penn State has the tougher job of having to replace their key pieces from last year, two reliable pins in Wildman/Fisher and then a veteran setter in Bogner. Hawaii on the other hand though losing Mouchlias they still have Chakas and Galloway and even without Thelle they gain a talented Tread Rosenthal. Hawaii still has the upper hand imo.

Penn State lost more starters than Hawaii did. So I'm not sure them being #3. But i do believe they will be in the convo. Maybe the one to look out for is Ohio State with whom they have returning.

I think Tread will be more risky with setting the middles than Thelle was. How so? I thought Thelle was plenty risky when setting his middles. Was he really? He rarely set Cole and I felt like he could have utilized Voss a whole lot more offensively than he did. I'm not complaining about it...just thinking Tread might push the envelope more similar to Joe. But I guess we all shall see as the season happens.

I'm not complaining about it...just thinking Tread might push the envelope more similar to Joe. But I guess we all shall see as the season happens. Yes I thought so. Situationally, Thelle was very crafty with how he involved his middles. Regularly firing sets from the 10 foot line to Voss or running forward towards the left pin and firing a flat back set 5-ish feet to Voss. Volume wise, the numbers are pretty similar. In 2019 (his last "full" season as a Warrior), Pat Gasman (being set by Joe) took at total of 281 swings in 94 sets played so just under 3 swings per set. In 2022 (with a mostly healthy Thelle), Voss took a total of 301 swings in 98 sets played so a little more than 3 swings per set. In 2023, Voss' number did dip to 263 swings in 101 sets played for a little over 2 1/2 swings per set. Dip in passing along with Thelle not being the setter for a stretch in the non-conference maybe? The interesting stat is in the abbreviated 2021 season. Gasman (hitting off of a young Thelle) took 243 swings in only 63 sets played which is nearly 4 swings per set! This may be attributed to the stronger passing line that included all-Americans Gage Worsley and Colton Cowell. To round out the comparison: 2019: Solbrig (Joe) - 226 swings in 99 sets played = 2.3 swings per set 2022: Hogland (entire season with Thelle) - 184 swings in 81 sets played = 2.3 swings per set 2023 Hogland (Thelle w/load management) - 191 swings in 96 sets played = 2 swings per set The numbers are close but if we take everything into account Thelle actually utilized his middles a little bit more than Joe, especially in 2021 and 2022 when he was healthier and played full-time.

Thank you for the stats. Makes sense. I still think Tread may push the envelope more than Thelle...and maybe based on the stats...may push the envelope more than Joe too. Lol which I didn't realize. But that's a good thing tbh. Especially with someone like Ofeck and Payne coming in whom have cannons for arms. Just helps open up the pins even more. We shall see. But I like Tread being so young and having all that experience. We certainly got a gold mine with him on board.

I enjoyed watching him work it out in the Japan matches and the with the Go Pro footage. Excited for the season!
