Are we gonna talk about how Japan threw the last two games in front of the largest crowds in the group round to have the no.2 spot, not saying their full team could beat Italy and/or Poland, but they didn’t even try.
I would love to play Slovenia in QF, since we didn’t play em in the group stage and they are on paper the easier team in the final 8

And the result looks pretty good for them isn’t it? They’ve got some ranking points for Olympic, and a ticket to QF vs SLO. Losing in front of the largest crowds? Who cares lol

They played all their starters (except Ran who got injured the game the night before) vs Italy. That’s far from throwing it imo. They just choked in the end of the sets and Italy was really the better team.
That game vs Poland you can argue that they rested some of their starters (main setter and main libero) in the game but both Ishikawa and Nishida played. Poland is really just the better team and Japan just used all bench players in the latter set. Last year, they did that too. Ishikawa, Nishida and Ran did not play vs France also in the Philippines. This time vs Poland only the setter and libero rested

I can see more of that in the Poland match knowing that even if they lose, they will be either #1 or #2 depending in the US-France match outcome and is still ahead of Poland.

And Japanese will not just throw away games. That’s not their culture.

Did we have a separate thread for the Challenger Cup last year? I'm too lazy to research.
The Asian Men's Volleyball Challenge Cup Final rounds start tomorrow. The other 7 teams have already been selected:
Qatar (host) v. either DR or Winner of AVCC Tunisia v. Chile
Türkiye v. either DR or Winner of AVCC Ukraine v. China
(I think I got that right?)

do we want separate threads for every single QF? USA-France Italy-Argentina Japan-Slovenia Poland-Brazil Maybe just separate threads for the SF and Bronze/Gold matches? And USA/France. The rest we can use this thread so you don't have to do all that work.
