According to Wiki, only once in 2018/2019 season. That was probably their strongest pin pair in the history of Ecza, with Larson and KYK. Also unfortunately their weakest setting season in recent history, with Ezgi and Gamze. i’m still wrapping my mind around this. if they couldn’t get it done with bosko, larson and KYK…do they really think they will with the pins they’ve recently signed? like…who is making those decisions in the back office? they really have been quite poor in recent roster decisions. But also there aren’t that many world class outsides to go around anymore. I’d love to seem the sign like Herbots or Skinner or someone like that….

The best middles have been with Vakif/FB for ages.

I’d say Vakifbank was extremely strong back then. It was when Zhu and Zehra had peaked, Sloetjes was not quite over her prime, Kelsey was passing dimes and about to have the summer of her career, Milena was still a dominant force, and Gizem was starting.

The best middles have been with Vakif/FB for ages. Yes. Quality of locals is huge. It's getting mitigated somewhat as Turkey builds young depth (and didn't they also get a little more gracious on foreginer restrictions), but it's still a big factor. Before her pregnancy, Naz was basically the kingmaker in the Turkish League because she was so much better than the other Turkish setters --> she won 6 of 8 league titles, when other teams had to either take a huge hit in that position or sacrifice a foreigner spot on a non-scorer.

Who were the locals when Tomkom-KYK won it? Eda, Polen??, middle, libero?

According to Gibby Arina is rumored to go to the China League next season lol This is very much conspiracy level... but I wonder how much these awards stuff triggers SB.... like their whole mission is enhancing their brand and their players... and they keep getting snubbed for the Turkish locals. But otoh, I think Vargas is an SB player too.

Also that year was weird - Vakif (with Naz) was easily the best team in season but flopped against Gala in the semis.

According to Gibby Arina is rumored to go to the Chinese League next season lol really If so Ecza is gonna have a great chance to win. If she goes there they will almost undoubtedly be the one seed for play offs. I think they can maybe win next year. They came super close this year

should have been mvp she carried them all season. Vargas getting mvp is TRAGIC i mean we all know why it happened. same with Zehra being MVP at the CWCH a couple of seasons ago. haak was (undeservedly). Zehra was mvp of the league finals that year and honestly probably did deserve it if not Gabi. This award is given for performance in the final series, and Arina was not mvp of the finals by any stretch
