TJ and Sander would have been soooo much fun this quad. I like Russell and Jaeschke as a balance to TJ. Sander is and was one of my favorite indoor players to watch but somehow I feel like the team chemistry is better now. Way better. Trust me. TJ looked strong last year too and this year I expect him to break through and solidify as the team enters into the later stages of tourneys as the stakes raise. That was his knock in previous years but it just takes time. Fun player to have on the USA roster and a great compliment to Aaron on the pins. Thomas Jaeschke will find his way one of these VNL legs and he is a legit 3rd option that we have been missing the past years.(often due to injury or finishing degrees Sander/Jaeschke/Russell were often not available together for long stretches) G is a solid 4th option in small stints.

TJ and Sander would have been soooo much fun this quad. lolololol no. Much happier with Russell. No one comes close to Sander's ball control is the main issue. Even as Aaron has developed, having the number one passer in an Olympic tournament is a huge plus. Big reason for medaling in Rio.

One thing that really came across during this match is that the team looks like a bunch of grown men. Like, physically, they are in peak form and remind me a lot of the 2008 gold medal squad. Not quite "a bunch of dads that got together to play" level of the 08 team, but not too far off. The whole vibe was super positive, and I'm more optimistic now than I was going into Tokyo.

Yeah I do feel like the vibe is more positive, compared with previous years. I think in interview Speraw mentioned that everyone cannot wait to be back to compete and they look like a family. That is really happy to see.

I'm very grateful we had him for that quad and in Rio. And I'd still take Aaron currently for his intangibles and what he provides for this team/TJ.
