Xavier at Purdue for the first match of the morning.
Like last night, Purdue comes out smoking.
Miller serves the first 7 points of the match for Purdue. Xavier looks tentative against the Purdue block, but its still early.
8 - 2 Purdue

First TO
Purdue leads 17 - 10. Purdue struggling with hitting errors since the initial run. OTOH, Merlau is solid.
Wischmeier not playing yet, probably being saved for later (or even tonight)

Xavier had pulled it back to 22 - 18 (Purdue must have had 5 net violations already) but Purdue runs off 3 straight to get back to 25 - 18

Purdue wins game 1 by score of 30 - 25 on a Miller kill
Xavier stuck with Purdue after the initial run, but it was too much to recover from.
Xavier hits about 350 for the match. That will need to change. In the last couple of matches, Purdue has made this change between the first two games, once they get the idea of what the other team is doing. Let's hope it will happen again.

Purdue winning ok, but Xavier not going away. 25 - 20
Purdue hitting .630 for the game (fewer errors), but Xavier hitting .375
Purdue's floor defense has been shakey

Purdue goes on to win 30 - 21
To give you an idea of what's going on, Purdue is being led by Kelli Miller with 10 kills, Jacques has 8, Merlau has 7 but didn't play game 2, and Marie Francke has 5 but didn't play game 1.
Not using all of their front line

So the game 3 lineup had Dildine in the front row, Sarah Vitali at MB, Merlau moving to RS, Francke and Miller at the left, and Lindsey Shondell setting. Shondell struggled, and Dargan came in immediately.
Purdue works back and pulls ahead 19 - 17.
R1 is calling the ball handling very tight. No spin allowed (Did you see two hits? Or did it just spin?). Shondell couldn't handle it.
Personally, I'm not complaining too much. I prefer to see it called tight.
Purdue is on a big run, up 21 - 17 now

Much better defense in game 3 for both sides, at the net and on the floor. Meg McCormick has done a good job.
Purdue pulling away at the end again, to win 30 - 25 on a kill by Miller.
Not the same Purdue team as last night. Literally.
On the other hand, a chance for a lot of players to play, and for Purdue to try lots of things.

Some final stats:
For Purdue Miller 13 kills, hits .522 Francke 11 kills, hits .688 Jacques 11 kills, hits .360 Ukovich only plays one game, Wischmeier not at all
Purdue hits about .375 as a team. Xavier is probably close to .300, though. Purdue is outblocked 4 - 3, but really nothing going on their.
For Xavier, Danielle Skrajewski was excellent, with 11 kills and hitting .625. Kate Duchek led the team with 14 kills, hitting .371.
I like Duchek a lot. She had a good match against Tennessee last night. She's fun to watch.
