Reviewing the rosters for the 2022 world championship semifinals and third place game clearly shows that there is no consensus in karch's mind as to what two outsides are going to bring him success. He has stayed loyal to k-rob as one of his starters but hasn't found a combination with her that has brought success so it might indicate that he considers an alternative to her that brings a combination of better attack and just enough passing.
Poland should be a good test to see whether the A team has improved enough over the pro season to be successful in reaching the Final Four or whether we will see a significant change in roster.
The US has not medaled in the last two major tournaments as Karch has struggled to replace the Tokyo retirees and keep pace with the player development of Brazil, Turkey, Italy and Serbia with Russia out only because of the war.

I'm not sure who watches the Men's VNL broadcasts, but AMA is so much better tempered when she is paired with Mike Sealy, as she was in the men's Poland VNL match I just watched. She is intolerable when you listen to her alone on a women's VNL match, or paired with another female broadcaster, but with Mike Sealy (as much flack as he has gotten on this board, he is just a very calm and knowledgeable announcing presence without the bizarre - and cringe!! - bullet point kind of speech patterns) it actually works. Yeah, I kind of like Sealy in this role too. |
