Thank you to volleytalk! I've been a monthly member of Volleyball TV paying about 7.99 a month for over a year now. Just recently, I found out that there were discount codes while reading these forums. I thought the discount code only applied to one month but it says it's 30% off "lifetime."

Karch said in the vballmag preview that this is the most important match of the week. Curious if we'll see Hancock or Carlini.

if he hasn't learned that lesson by now... lol I'm sure he did not think importance in terms or winning versus losing. USA doesn't need to win this match. He meant in terms of judging players on the team in regards to being on the final roster for a key event and rank order at each position. With the second interpretation, which surely must be the correct one, testing Plummer actually makes some sense. Testing doesn't mean starting, of course. I expect she'll see some time.

Au contraire, I think Karch was simply talking about winning and losing, and how the teams match up. That's always Karch's competitive nature coming out.

Sure, Karch wants to win. But it's not a priority because this is just the prelim stuff. It's really more important to give each player a chance to see how they're coming along. Plummer's past failures are well known to him. But that was then, and this is now. I don't know where he has Plummer ranked at her spot. But I'm pretty sure he wants to test her for moving up or down one place against competition that will help judge that. If that means playing her against Poland, I think he'll do it.

I don't have any issue with what you're saying about player evaluation, except that I don't think that is what Karch's comment was about. He wasn't putting his player considerations out there in a public comment.
