2023 Duke Blue Devils GraduatesMadison Bryant - DS/L Lizzie Fleming - MB Gracie Johnson - OH Jess Robinson - MB Emma Worthington - S SeniorsGeorgia Stavrinides - MB Sydney Yap - DS/S JuniorsRylie Kadel - MB Rachel Richardson - OH Nikki Underwood - DS/L SophomoresTaylor Atkinson - OH Christina Barrow - DS/S Ngozi Iloh - MB Kerry Keefe - OH Millie Muir - S Sydney Tomlak - DS/L FreshmenLauren Ingram - OH Grace Thrower - OH Nikki Quinn - S Season PreviewThe 2022 Blue Devils tied for 9th in the ACC and while Gracie Johnson shined, earning All-ACC First Team, injuries throughout the season contributed to their struggles. The notable injuries were highly recruited OH Kerry Keefe missing 10 games and DS/L Madison Bryant only playing 6 games before being ruled out for the season. With both healthy for the duration of the 2023 season, the hitting and passing should improve. Gracie Johnson carried Duke's offense and Duke didn't have a consistent second option. OH Rachel Richardson ended up being the second option and struggled quite a bit, hitting under .100. Keefe being healthy for the entire season should help carry some of the offensive load off these two. Duke struck gold in the portal, bringing in Michigan’s Jess Robinson. MB2 will probably be Rylie Kadel but Georgia Stavrinides and Lizzie Fleming are also in the mix. Duke’s biggest loss is S UCLA grad transfer Devon Chang. However, Duke has 3 options for setter with sophomore Millie Muir, freshmen Nikki Quinn and the grad transfer from Cornell, Emma Worthington and will be interesting to see who gets the spot. Passing wasn't great, but Nikki Underwood stepped in at L in Bryant's absence and was solid. Serving was a strength for Duke, so I expect that to remain true going into next season. Overall, the pieces are there for Duke to improve from last season.

Arguably the most underperforming program in sports.

Kinda shocked, but I like it.
Going somewhere and trying to build something > committing to the same 5 programs

What a phenomenal pick-up for Duke! She has been one of my favorite to watch in this 2025. Go Blue Devils!

glass was an incredible get for duke, congrats Impossible to argue against a choice to get an incredible degree, so good for her. Having said that, zero players get better there.

Who else was recruiting her besides Duke?
Good question! I'm not at all connected to prep volleyball or even a college volleyball program, so I've got no inside intel on any of this : ). That said, if coaches' Twitter follows and likes mean something substantive, I think Illinois was at least one school that was interested in Glass.

She was being recruited by a bunch of power 5 schools. She is a 4.0 student and an awesome girl. My guess is academics played a very strong role in her choice of school.

First off, thanks for making this thread! Excellent job. Secondly, Duke just struck gold by landing setter Charlotte Glass! (#20 in prep vball rankings). She’s the player we’ve been missing since asst coach Catanach graduated! As far as this upcoming season goes, I expect a top 5 ACC finish! We’ve consistently underachieved in the last 10 years under Nagel, but this year (if everyone stays healthy) I think the pieces are in place to finish in the upper echelon and win a round in the ncaa tourney! Anything less, and I’ll be pissed! Having Gracie back is huge, as she’ll be All ACC again. A full season of Keefe is also big, and I expect her to do serious damage. Getting Robinson from Michigan is a big addition, and her and Kadel should be a very good MB tandem. Defense should be good, having Bryant back, along with Underwood and Richardson. Speaking of Richardson, I PRAY Nagel stops using her as a hitter. She’s awful and can’t terminate to save her soul! Keep her in the back row, she’s effective there. The 3rd OH/Opp should be either 6’4 Atkinson or one of the freshmen! Setting hopefully gets better. Hopefully they start using Muir, as she was a very highly ranked recruit for a reason!
