Q Fans deserve a movie they can go to and enjoy too. It doesn't sound like there's anything damaging to the world in that movie, other than it being untrue. (And possibly a Q recruiting platform--but most of the target audience is already a member) Oh, is that why Holiday is excited about this? It was clear he thinks this is somehow "owning the libs", but I had no idea how. The marketing for this flick has largely targeted Christian groups, where I'm guessing Holiday came across it. Seems like a strategy that is paying off, at least for the movie's opening. Darker than usual subject matter for that particular audience, generally speaking - which is probably why it took me a bit to understand why this was apparently thread-worthy.

Why would Hollywood promote a film that wasn't produced by a Hollywood studio? Especially one with a target demographic described as "Q adjacent", which explains how HOLIDAY found it.

Why even pay to go to the theater when you can just wait for the blu ray or DVD to come out and watch it any time at home?
The big screen is overrated, especially since tvs are getting bigger.

Sorry, but TV screens and home theatre systems are no match for being in an actual theatre. imo Movies are shot to be seen on big movie screens not on a 72" TV.

Depends on the movie. For a lot of movies, sure. But I'm glad I saw Top Gun Maverick and Across the Spiderverse (twice) in theaters. Now, granted, the better Indiana Jones movies like Raiders and Last Crusade would surely be better in theaters also. The new one just isn't that exciting.

"Disney owned the rights to this film with no plan to release it. Angel studios bought the rights. Took it to Amazon, got turned down. Took it to Netflix, got turned down. Decided to pre-sell tickets and was able to get it in 2600 theaters and beat out Disney’s Indiana Jones on July 4th. The film is based on a true story. Truth > Fiction. Left leaning media is trying to slander it calling it a Qanon conspiracy while knowing it’s a true story." ~ Post by William Jennings

It does not appear likely to make back its budget, at least not in first-run ticket sales. Sound Of Freedom made $17M in its first weekend. Much better relative to its budget, but much worse on an absolute scale.

Thank you my friend, I wonder if Hollywood is finally figuring out what kind of movies people like. Probably not. Last weekend (7/7-9), the most popular movie in America was a low-budget movie called Insidious: The Red Door. Did $33 million in sales the first two days, and has already made $64 million total on a $14 million budget (about the same budget as Sound of Freedom). So, by your criteria, the kind of movies people like and want to see are horror movies about demonic possession. I like it!

Might have to do with the last Indiana Jones movie being such a disaster. I distinctly remember taking my girlfriend to that movie when I was living in Manhattan, wasting $28 on it he chose... poorly.

If I was a mid-budget movie studio, I'd seriously making Christian Movies--that audience is underserved, the budgets low and the profits high.

I used to think Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom was a good movie back when I first watched it in the 1980s. I watched it again recently and...boy...it's practically unwatchable. Honestly, I think the only thing good about it was that kid Short Round. Harrison Ford was okay. Kate Capshaw was terrible, although I liked that little "Anything Goes" dance number in the beginning -- but I'm a fan of the old songs.
Another bad Indiana Jones movie was the last one -- Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. So many set pieces were so unbelievably terrible. Even Cate Blanchett couldn't save it -- although she herself had a lot to do with its general suckiness. Shia LaBeouf...ugh.
I'll watch Dial of Destiny when it comes out on DVD and if I'm in the mood for a crapfest.
