My network went out on me before the Purdue match, so I wasn't able to post during.
Purdue ended up winning in three. Don't know the scores. Don't really care.
Purdue was starting to blow away game three when Leah Wischmeier went down with a knee injury. Sadly, the prognosis isn't good.
In terms of what this means for Purdue and all that %*$#, I don't care. I really have little interest in volleyball right now, I am so saddened by this.
Leah is not only a great volleyball player, but she is a top notch person. She is as smart as all get out, but also very fun. I've gotten to know her personally over the last year or so, and she is one of my favorite people in the world. Volleyball is everything to her right now, and the most painful thing about this now is how it affects her.
I still hold out all the hope I can, but I don't know how much there is. Maybe it's just a bad sprain? I can only hope. Purdue volleyball wouldn't be the same for me without L-Dub out there.
This sucks.
BTW, up to the point she got hurt, she was putting on a clinic.

That's a rotten thing to happen to Leah especially, but to the Boilers as a team as well.
Hopefully her injury isn't season ending, or at least if it is it came early enough in the season that she can get a medical redshirt so she can play next year.
FWIW: Scores 30-26, 30-22, 30-26.

OK, after a beer and taking the dog for a long walk to clear my head, I feel a little more up to it.
In terms of the match, Purdue won the first two 30 - 26 and 30 - 22. Amazingly enough, they didn't even play all that steller, IMO. Dildine and Mastandrea were having real struggles with serve reception (Mastandrea was handling spikes better than serves).
Purdue led most of game 1, but Tennessee pulled to within 27 - 26 before Purdue got the serve back and scored twice on Dildine serves. The final point was a Wischmeier solo block.
Game 2 was a game of runs. Tennessee jumped out 5 - 1 before Purdue went on a 14 - 3 run, including stretches of 5 and 6 to get to 14 - 8. Tennessee came back and eventually it knotted at 22 when Wischmeier got stuffed. OTOH, she took over from there, and Purdue scored the next 8 points, with probably 5 or 6 on Wischmeier kills (she just took over the court).
When she went down in game 3, she had just put down her third kill of the game to put Purdue up 15 - 8. After she went out, Purdue struggled to find itself, and Tennessee pulled back into a 16 - 16 tie. It went back and forth for a while, but Purdue pulled away at the end behind the hitting of Sami Mader.
Tennessee was led by Kristin Andre, with 13 kills, hitting .479. Purdue held Stayonova in pretty good check. She had 9 kills, but only hit .118. I think Purdue's size intimidated Jocelyn Johnson, as she was very tentative, and ended up hitting negative in 16 swings (4/5/16). Purdue outblocked Tennessee 12 - 5.
Despite not playing against Xavier, Wischmeier was named MVP. And it wasn't out of sympathy, she deserved it. She had 14 kills against Tennessee, hitting .524 or so, and had 13 kills against Ohio last night.
Kelli Miller and Sami Mader from Purdue also were on the all-tournament team, along with Andre from Tennessee, Kate Duchek from Xavier, and Julia Winkfield from Ohio.
BTW, A-10 fans should try to watch Xavier if you can. Duchek is a real treat to watch. Ditto Steph Blackburn from Ohio for those in the MAC. Winkfield does pretty well, but I thought last night she had the quietest 12 kills hitting over .400 I have seen. She was more of a force in their match against Tennessee today, but Blackburn, OTOH, makes a lot of noise with her hits.

Dave is doing a great job up in West Lafayette. Look out Big 10(+1). Sorry to hear about Leah's injury. Hopefully it's not too serious. Looking at the stats, it appears that Tennessee just can't find another outside hitter. The loss of Piantadosi appears to be even bigger than I thought it would be. Good job Boilermakers. Great start to the season.

That is really awful news about Wischmeier. I hope that it isn't at bad as it appears, and I wish her a quick recovery. It just makes you feel sick to watch any player get hurt, but especially a senior.

What happen to Tennessee's libero Buggs? I noticed she wasn't on the roster this year. She truely did alot for that team last year.

Their libero last night was Amy Stevens (?), #14. She played OH against Xavier, but L against both Ohio and Purdue.

Their libero last night was Amy Stevens (?), #14. May be you wanted to say Amy Morris?

Any word on Wischmeier's prognosis? An update would be most appreciated.

I haven't heard, but haven't pressed for info, either. I try to stay back and not bug them any more than I already do.
Just a guess, but I would expect the MRI today.
