winning the VNL is obviously the goal. but its time to look long term and figure out what we're going to do for IOQT. Its very obvious that we dont have a lineup and most of the VNL was not used trying to figure that out. I dont think there's any other country that has an many questions as we do. This right here is why I'm just so deflated as a USA fan. I wish we were like every other country and just took the same 14 players to the entire tournament so that we wouldn't have to watch our team completely sh*t the bed in the finals of one of the rare tournaments we get to HOST. This isn't a good look for this team and Karch and co should face some consequences, but they won't. I'm seriously considering rooting for another team moving forward.

I gasped when she took that 2nd ball from Micha lol, like did she think it was someone else next to her lol Or she sized up the situation and thought she was the better setter there… well she shanked it and turkey ended up with a free ball so she thought wrong lol

Justine is definitely up and down. She has certainly had impressive matches and times where she's been so dialed in, but then she's had matches where she just isn't making plays. It's a position with both tangible and intangible effects on the team and when you're getting beat so much and not able to lift the defense up, it's hard. That said, I don't think Hentz is the answer so I'm just not sure what else people would advocate for. White is a no. Maybe if Kelsey sees herself getting pushed out of an OH spot she would be more open to going back to libero. Fleck is a question mark, with just an ok first pro season. Brooke's had her own issues. Hentz absolutely could be the answer. She just doesn’t fit Karch’s GMS mold and he’s not big on thinking outside the box. Retweet. He’s been a Hentz hater since college. He doesn’t like liberos who take over !

Not saying that Turkey would've lost, but it was unfortunate that we didn't have healthy backups for Annie and Micha.
It just wasn't our day; even JWO looked subpar today in the first 2 sets of this match.

I think the problem is we cant do that... half of our roster was missing week one. They brought the available players week 2... and week 3 had the rest of the bunch. the calendar is just too condensed and USA takes player safety into consideration.

Also, don’t know if it was commented on but no one had the captain jersey on (with the line under the #) vs Japan but Micha was wearing it today. Maybe Kelsey is falling out of favor. Micha was the captain, yes.

Also usa players get injured way more than anyone else. They literally have missing starters every single match. The excuse can’t always be missing injured players…. Or some of the players with minor injuries are just gonna have to play through it like the other teams… i dont think its an excuse as much as its just unfortunate. I think Karch bringing Carlini fully knowing she was not 100% is wrong and should be ridiculed. I dont care what this board thinks of Ashley or Tori... a backup setter is better than none. If you're not going to bring a backup... roster jordan or something. or someone to pass. i dont know im just rambling now lol agree. But also it seems like usa will bench their starters for the smallest injuries ever and I think they need to stop doing that… I’m not saying force players to play injured but like everyone has something nagging and you don’t see other top NT missing starters this often

I should’ve known we weren’t winning the fourth after we started by forcing an overpass and then completely whiffing on putting it away

At some point, we may also need to consider that the one month around Tokyo was an outlier. Or covid years! Totally agreed. And if KK wants to really start things over, he just needs to be "santarellized" and he must revive JT -aka the only reliable us opposite- while forgetting AD even exits Next Team Usa: Poulter/ JT/ Frantti/ Lanier/ O' Neal/ Dana/ JWO, with just Bajema, Skinner, Chiaka, HW as sure subs

Honestly at the end of the day it’s nice that we prioritize players resting and rehabbing over forcing them to play and burn themselves out.. frustrating as a fan who wants them to win but nice none the less

I'm sorry and don't mean any disrespect but I've found your pessimism this VNL to be not nuanced. We have issues and stuff that we need to address moving forward, but it doesn't seem to me like you enjoy rooting for the team based on the level of defeatist mentality that's been present in the majority of your posting.

Keeping someone like Chiaka healthy is. I dont know why he waited for JT.

karch is sick for saying he didn't discover the solution on time in last year's vnl travesty, only then to not find the solution on time again. ugh, like be fr! oop

Maybe if Kelsey sees herself getting pushed out of an OH spot she would be more open to going back to libero. Fleck is a question mark, with just an ok first pro season. Brooke's had her own issues. as a libero myself I know how hard it is to be a libero that doesn’t get to serve that doesn’t score the points. When your team is just absolutely all over the place it’s hard to exactly focus on your own gameplay. You could see JWO leading huddles in the end there, not Micha. JWO has to try to manage and lead all these other players. in Tokyo there was significant leadership that she could just focus on leading the backcourt, she didn’t have all these extra external stresses. Like one of the Zehra digs she missed, she was like directing the block with her voice and she just seemed kinda unready. And the expectation on JWO after Tokyo is so harsh…like if she isn’t digging the crap out of everyone she isn’t playing well, then she isn’t “consistent”. People wanted her head when Vargas aced her, yet people ignore the multiple times she handled it beautifully. And I think she has played very well multiple of times, and even if a libero doesn’t play at an extreme high level at the end of the day they are significantly less impactful towards a teams success. Like Gizem passed 35% positive today yet Turkiye was still very successful.
