Did anyone ask Karch if not setting the middles was a strategic decision? I'd love to see his answer if anyone has such a clip/interview notes.

Yep. You watching the semi-final on home soul? Lol so you’re purposefully being dense Türkiye won the VNL gold medal. USA finished fourth. Türkiye defeated a team that had already beaten USA. Happy to debate why Türkiye is better than USA right now so go ahead and put forth a couple of your arguments why they’re not. I’ve provided my first one. Just leave out the personal insults.

You have quickly become one of the most annoying users on this site. Plenty of people commented on JWO’s subpar performance yesterday, you’re just making stuff up and babbling. So name calling is called abuse in these days and can be something that could fall under harassment, the comments on JWO were subpar compared to Cook and others, how do you beat up on team that lost to a stellar team that has everything the USA does not have, they are not going to always win and will be challenged...stop cyber bullying I have another zinger ready but afraid of hipsterfilth and his disapproval. Kumbaya.

This is just stupid. JT, Lanier and Frantti are very good (minus passing). We need someone who can set and an OH2 who can hit above 150. (1) it’s an opinion that isn’t “stupid”; (2) JT, Lanier & Frantti ARE good, but you can’t “minus passing”. Passing is part of the international game (not so much for OPP). IMHO, an OH is only “very good” if they back up good point-scoring with solid passing (based on stats); (3) USA already has “someone who can set”, more than one. And what does that even mean? (4) The OH2 who can hit >150 is legit but I’d add “and can also pass and play solid defense”. No. You can say someone's game is very good minus passing and that in total, they are good. We have no one who played last match capable of setting at a high level. Micha is simply not good enough when she doesn't have a huge weapon with a huge window. She made awful decisions.

Setting is so key that I think it's natural that the knee-jerk reaction to a loss is to finger-point setting. The simple fact is that no one on the floor during the second set seemed to be "on". JWO looked the worst she has all VNL. Serving has been an on-going issue all month. I don't know subbing would have helped. USA took until the 3rd set to find themselves and they just couldn't dig themselves out of the hole they created despite giving it a damn good try. How do you not know who to sub? It was clear who would have helped given that transpired a set later...and over a set too late.

I'm not in Karch's head, but I suspect the question wasn't who to sub, but if you trust your athletes and position coaches to correct the problems. He was wrong this time. It's not dissimilar to the age old question a baseball manager faces of letting a struggling pitcher work through a slump.
