SLO is a little bit out of sorts right now. Japan leading 7-3 TO SLO.

Love Japan’s bic/fake bic handset plays. Their hitters always seem so confident running it.
Side note: is there a team that recycles points better than Japan? Seems like they can always get a good cover and in system opportunity when they tip into the block

It's really nice how much less dependent on the pins Japan has become, especially within the last year

Rip huge stuff on Rok (by Ishikawa), and that highlight replay clearly shows that hitting line was wide open based on how low Selina jumps..

It's really nice how much less dependent on the pins Japan has become, especially within the last year I remember last year commenting on how lazy Yamauchi looked on so many plays, he looks really focused and quick this year. Adding back in Kentaro also helps, and Onondera is always solid

I think the ref made a bad call on the 4 touches but Japan ran away with it

That is a very small crowd for this one yeah I am here and was shocked; was able to move from my seat in the lower tier far behind the court to being 3 rows back parallel with the serving line

Kovacic played amazing. Ropret has been a little messy this tournament, I think it was the right decision to sub him out. Mozic is an incredible offensive talent proving his skill at higher levels of international play. Ishikawa demonstrates again that when he's hot he can almost carry an entire team, but Japan has done a good job of offloading some of that burden. Yamamoto is a rock and his floor defense and serve reception are definitely world class I hope this is the Japan we see against Poland, instead of whatever we saw two weeks ago.

That play was crazy: the foot save, pass clips the net, Miyaura being clutch

First half of the 3rd set was a chiselling/tool masterclass by Ishikawa, wow.

I think the ref made a bad call on the 4 touches but Japan ran away with it Did that end up being a re-serve? To me it didn’t seem like Japan gained a point after play resumed, but I may be wrong.

That play was crazy: the foot save, pass clips the net, Miyaura being clutch Underrated “dig” pass by the Japanese libero after the free ball clipped the net and drastically changed trajectory.
