Not to say anything bad about UH, but this year, it seems that Nevada and Idaho and perhaps New Mexico State can give UH some competition for the WAC title. Hopefully they will find their core soon and be able to play with the heart and passion that took them as far last year. I think partially they may not be playing that well this year since they have such a high expectation of themselves whereas last year they were more of a go-for-broke team since there were not really any expectations for them as it was supposedly a rebuilding year.

I'm not too worried about the Wahine's chances in the WAC. I think it'll be business as usual. All of their losses came at the hands of the top 5 teams in the country. Some of the WAC teams are decent, but I don't think we'll have to worry about any conference losses this season. I think they'll right the ship and sail through conference play.

I agree with DiggUH. Hawaii made it through last year's WAC undefeated and will likely do it again. The one thing on their side is history. Other teams come in knowing Hawaii is the team to beat and in tight matches, other teams get a bit overwhelmed. Nevada will definately challenge but the Wahine know what to do to slow down the Wolfpack. Utah State and Idaho will also give some hard rubs, but I don't see them taking down the Wahine. I am not worried about NMSU. They haven't played anyone of top caliber in the past year and just got smashed by Colorado State. I doubt think they will finish in the top half of the conference.

As much as I'd like to believe UH might struggle against some WAC foes, I really doubt it. UH's struggles against the top competition have exposed some weaknesses but those are probably pretty much limited to those Top-10 level teams. Even while beating UCSB, wasn't overly impressed with Utah State (UCSB was really just that bad in that match). Based on last year's tourney match, NMSU had some nice players coming back but nothing that will exploit UH's assumed weaknesses. Can't say much on Nevada, they seem to have some nice wins, but I do remember if you shut down the middle, the rest of the team doesn't seem to pickup the load. That was from early last year, so a lot could have changed. I just don't see anybody else in the WAC cracking the Top 20. A handful of Top-40 teams but UH would have to have a fairly off night to lose any conf matches. I still think/hope UH should/would go back to BigWest and go independant in football. (BigWest is down this year but not that down.)

Hawaii will win the WAC tournament but will come in 2nd in the regular season with losses to Utah State, Nevada, New Mexico St. and, yes, San Jose State.
As dorothymantooth likes to say, "Book it!"
