Well, the big pre-seaon match ups are almost over - I think? What are this weekends big show downs? if there are any? Is there a place to go that'll have "games to watch" type of section?

This weekend:
Stanford and Cal play host to USC and UCLA. These will be great match-ups.

But the aura of Cal (albeit briefly during the Mia Jerkov era), USC, and UCLA has diminished.

Middle Tennessee (14 and 1) at Western Kentucky (12 and 1) this Friday. Side note: Their combine record against the Big Ten, Pac 10, ACC, and SEC this year is 4 and 0.

But the aura of Cal (albeit briefly during the Mia Jerkov era), USC, and UCLA has diminished. A few strong recruiting classes in a row can take care of that. Besides, I was watching Cal when the last "aura" went back to the days when Holly McPeak was setting Lisa Arce. I'm happy that they're consistently making the NCAAs. They'll be fielding elite teams in due course.

Minnesota comes to the Field House to play the Wisconsin Badgers this Friday, with both figuring to play a role in deciding the Big Ten championship. A great rivalry, it will probably be played in front of a packed house.
One of the biggest games of the year on the first week of conference play.

Minnesota/Wisconsin and Purdue/Ohio St on the first night. Good way to start the Big Ten season, with 4 of the top 5 teams in action against each other.

I believe the CSTV match is Texas A&M at Nebraska on wed. TAMU had a great hitter in Laura Jones but she will be going up against the best blocking team in the country so it will be interesting to see who wins that battle.
Another interesting battle takes Kansas down to play Texas in Austin.

I've always had a soft spot for Laura Jones and think she could have made a strong contribution almost anywhere. Plenty of people were surprised she stayed home, but I guess a truly good southern girl will choose love of the game and the school over big-name prestige and pampering. But God help her, she will get a big Canadian rejection all night and the Aggies will go down, probably in 3.
