Both from Michigan this week, Katie Bruzdzinski was named POW while Stesha Selsky was named Defensive POW. bigten.collegesports.com/sports/w-volley/spec-rel/091905aaa.htmlGood to see Selsky honored, she seems to fly under the radar a little. She is an awesome all around player who if I was a coach I would really want on my team.

Good for Katie. Despite their big wins, Purdue didn't have so much one big star for the weekend (and a lot of players had limited playing time). Although I do think if Wischmeier had gotten up to 18 kills against Tennessee (she was basically on pace for it until she got hurt), she would have been a good option.

In the paper today, they say initial diagnosis is ACL. She is going for MRI Wednesday or Thursday.
My impression, and note this is not talking from any inside knowledge, is that it is severe enough.
I don't know if there is a chance she could just play in a brace and just bear with it or not. She wouldn't be herself, even if she could. OTOH, it doesn't do any good to do anything about it now. This is her last season regardless.
I don't anticipate she will be able to contribute much, sadly. If nothing else, she might be able to come out and play in some lopsided matches and on senior night. At least that way, she could still get some court time in her last year.
As always, I hope I'm wrong.

Oh no, I am so sorry to hear about Leah's injury. I suppose the injury is to the same knee she had ACL surgury on a few years ago. What a shame, she deserved to have a fine senior season. I really hope the injury is not as severe as anticipated.

In fact, it is the other knee this time.
She did say in the paper that she didn't hear a pop. But it was also a very awkward play, and bodies were flailing around when it happened.

Hmpf. I was hoping MSU's Nicole Colaluca would get D-POW honors. She had 21, 26, and 45 digs during the three matches this weekend, but I would guess MSU's 1-2 record over the weekend didn't help her cause.

If MSU would have gotten the win against Sacramento State I think she would've gotten in. Correct me if I am wrong but isn't 45 digs the second highest total in Big 10 history? I think Paula is number one with 47 against PSU last season. Walters had 44 in that match.

Congrats to Bruzdzinski and Selsky. Numbers aside, both of these kids bring an awful lot of desire and intensity every time they step on the court.

She got screwed... there really wasn't much more that she could do from the libero position. 92 digs in 3 matches is almost unheard of... THese are individual awards and she deserved to be recognized... i guess we'll see who's playing better when MSU and UM face off tomorrow night in E. Lansing
