Flipped over to another MVC match on ESPN+ after my team's match concluded, and heard the announcer proclaim: "we've had some great crowds here so far this season. Attendance average is at 166" I know attendance and crowd size is relative and all, but I just struggle to consider an average below 200 people in attendance to be "good crowds" in an arena.
Just something I found funny

Just something I found funny wow which team was that? Had to be one of the teams with a smaller gym like SIU, Evansville or Indiana state. Don’t know why they would even bring that number up let alone celebrate it 😭

Missouri State is hosting the MVC tournament this year, but they're running the risk of not qualifying for it themselves. Top 8 teams make the tourney, and the Bears are currently tied for 8th. Granted, there is still a fair amount of season left (7 matches for each team) and 4 of those opponents for MSU are teams with the same or worse conference records as them. But still.

Illinois State's 9-match winning streak is broken as they lose at UNI on Friday night (and again tonight at Drake), while UNI extends their streak to 14 with wins over the Redbirds and Bradley.
With 5 matches remaining for each team, UNI (13-0) and Drake (11-2) keep pace atop the standings in 1st and 2nd. Illinois State (9-4) and Valparaiso (8-5) fall back a bit as Valpo also lost one of their 2 matches this weekend. UIC and Murray State (both 7-6) as well as Southern Illinois and Missouri State (both 6-7) remain in the top 8 (with the conference tournament taking 8 teams). Belmont (5-8) could potentially play their way into the field, but Evansville (3-10) and Bradley (2-11) are unlikely to qualify, and Indiana State (1-12) is mathematically eliminated from contention already.
UNI (currently at 38 in figstats RPI, with T50 wins over TCU and Drake) is still in the running for potential at-large to the NCAA tourney should they stumble in the conference tourney, and Drake (figstats RPI of 48) is in the bubble conversation.

Missouri State not making the tournament in the year they host would be history repeating itself going back to the 2012 season.

UNI had been sitting at about #38 in RPI, but dropped to about #47 tonight even though they won. I guess that's what happens when you have to play a team with an RPI around 300. Ouch. Might drop another sport or two even with a win tomorrow, as they play a team with RPI around 230

Drake’s refusal to run a D ball with a player as talented as Oberpriller is nothing short of baffling to me.

Three regular season matches remain for each MVC team.
Five teams have clinched spots in the 8-team conference tourney (UNI 15-0, Drake 13-2, Valpo 10-5, UIC 9-6, and Illinois State 9-6) Four teams are in contention for the remaining 3 spots (SIU 8-7, Missouri St 7-8, Murray St 7-8, Belmont 6-9) Three teams are mathematically eliminated (Evansville 3-12, Bradley 2-13, Indiana St 1-14)
UNI and Drake have at least some chance to snag an at-large NCAA tourney bid should they need it, though neither are comfortably in yet, by any means. Both of their RPIs took a bit of a hit despite both getting a pair of wins, due to them playing the cellar dwellers, but they should bounce back up if they continue winning, as their remaining opponents have better records (Valpo, UIC, and finishing off with a match against each other)

Last match of the regular season for each of the MVC teams will take place on the evening of Wed. 11/15. Drake @ UNI, Valparaiso @ UIC, Missouri St @ SIU, Illinois St @ Bradley, Belmont @ Murray St, and Evansville @ Indiana St
UNI (17-0 in MVC) has clinched the regular season conference championship and #1 seed, while Drake (14-3) has clinched the #2 seed. Valpo, UIC, and SIU are all 10-7, while Missouri St and Illinois St are both 9-8; with all 5 having secured spots in the conference tournament The last spot will go to the winner of Wednesday's match between Murray St (7-10) and Belmont (6-11). Evansville (5-12), Indiana St (3-14), and Bradley (2-15) are out of contention for a conference tournament spot.
Here is a rundown of possible seeding for the MVC tournament: #1 UNI #2 Drake #3 winner of Valpo @ UIC #4 SIU if they beat MoSt, else MoSt / SIU / loser of VU@UIC #5 VU@UIC loser / MoSt / SIU (if they lose) #6 ILS if both ILS and SIU win, else same mix as 5 seed #7 ILS if they don't get the 6 seed, else MoSt #8 winner of the Belmont at Murray State match (loser doesn't make the tournament)
If both ILS and MoSt win, then 4-way tie at 10-8 w/ tiebreaks determining #4-#7
Possibly seed range for each team: locks: UNI #1, Drake #2 Valpo: 3-5 UIC: 3-6 SIU: 4-6 MoSt: 4-7 ILS: 6-7 Murray St/Belmont: winner of their h2h match is 8, loser is out

I'll dabble in a pick'em since I am bored at work.
Belmont over Valpo 3-2 Missouri State over ILS 3-1
SIU over Belmont 3-0 MSU over UIC 3-2
UNI over SIU 3-1 Drake over MSU 3-1
UNI over Drake 3-1
Missouri State makes a Cindarella-esque run since they are at the Hammons Center. The fighting Bobbi Petersens complete the regular season and tournament championships and waltz into the Big Dance.
