In the poll, the second of the two choices for the "Sat 1pm | St Thomas vs Oakland" match should be "Oakland Wins". Mea Culpa.
So... since I decided to follow the Tommies for at least some of their matches, I figured... why not create match threads for them, too?  Whether I continue will be based on how much activity the thread generates.
To be fair and even-handed, I have included poll options for all matches of the tournament, but this thread was really made for the University of St Thomas Tommies.

- I will be amazed if half of the players listed above as possible starters actually start.
(Okay... that might be too pessimistic – and of course it is indicative of my lack of prognostication, not their abilities.) - Tommies
- I am assuming that St. Thomas runs a 6-2 offense again this year.
- This tournament is the first chance to see the Tommies play
- The Tommies are picked to finish eight (of nine) in the Summit League.
- Lions
- The Lindenwood Lions are also starting their season with this tournament (no exhibition match).
- Lindenwood was picked to finish seventh (of eleven) in the Ohio Valley Conference.
- Flames
- The hosting university UIC Flames are coming off an exhibition match against the Wisconsin Badgers.
- It looks like UIC will also be running a 6-2 offense.
- UIC was voted to finish third (of twelve) in the Missouri Valley Conference pre-season poll.
- Golden Grizzlies
- Oakland will be coming off an internal Black and Gold scrimmage, and a scrimmage against Grand Valley State, when they start NCAA play at this tourney.
- Oakland was picked to finish sixth (of ten teams) in the Horizon League pre-season poll.

History: This is the first time St Thomas has played any of UIC, Lindenwood, and Oakland. Ah, the joy of being a new team in Division I volleyball!
Useless Knowledge: Lindenwood's colors may be 'black and gold' but their 'black' is actually Pantone PMS Black 6 C, which is a bit lighter than pure black.

That's one more than they have on their website's roster... #25 Salma Abdelhady is listed on the LiveStats box stats, but is not on the website.

Announcer keeps reversing which team players are on, sigh. He seems to be catching his errors, at least.
Tommies are running a 6-2.
Correction. Looks like Allie Kopp is coming in as a DS, and not taking on setter duties.
