Super happy to see Indiana doing so well this season! I agree that Gary is a great libero. She reminds me of Lexi Rodriguez in a lot of ways. In any case, did Chicoine consider Indiana at any point? Additionally, is it a wild stretch to think that there is a glint of a power shift between Purdue and Indiana, with Indiana clearly on the rise and Purdue tapering off from the past few years of being so dominant? If so, I wonder how that will affect recruiting prep players from Indiana who are considering one of the two schools? I mean, one can hope Indiana can start attracting the big in-state talent. In the past, they sort of "lucked" into Ashley Benson, the program's only first team All American, because her dad played basketball for the Hoosiers. IU has never (for clear reasons) been the destination for highly ranked recruits. Ryann Connors was, waaaay back, I think, the first highly ranked commit out of HS to choose Indiana, and then IU made the tournament in 98 and 99. I'm dating myself. Anywho, It would be great if Indiana kids like Shaffmaster, Cresse, Stumler, Kendall White, (the state churns out some good players) would now look at IU! Great new facilities, and a reinvigorated interest in the program from fans. Go Hoosiers. Especially the fan part. Impressed by the sellout crowds they’re getting and even when it’s not a sellout it’s still pretty full. Saw some pretty funny shirts in the crowd too

Congrats to the Hoosiers on the rivalry win! Indiana’s making a very good case to make the tournament this year and actually do pretty well. I think Aird is just a competitive harda** coach who has high expectations for his players (not far off from his mentor Russ Rose…) and there’s a group of players who don’t respond well to that. Now that he’s had time to recruit athletes who share the same ideals as him they’re thriving. Haworth in particular is like the reincarnation of Micha Hancock, very strong, very competitive and always playing at 100%. Yeah. He seems to be trying his hardest to be just like RR. That's certainly a choice in this day and age. Shout out to Ramsey Gary, Isa Lopez and Grae Gosnell! I love their fire. Oh, and Tatum too - she seems tough. That kind of "edge" is something I can't remember this program ever having. I think you are who you are as a coach. There are better and worse ways to do things but if you're not authentic it's not going to work. My impression from the outside is he's toned it down, so maybe he was trying too hard to be like RR originally and now that he's being himself (and has players who are comfortable with that level of toughness) things are going much more smoothly for him.

Late to the party Hoosiers 2023 fan (not so much for Aird, but...some players have bought in now) coming to ask:Can they do it twice in a season AND win in West Lafayette too? Sounds like too much to ask at Holloway, but, damn, I would love to see IU upset the Boilermakers at home! It might turn some receuits' heads toward Bloomington, no? Or maybe only getting into the tournament is going to flip that switch....

So does Indiana get ranked after this week? I think they receive votes and if they win can out next weekend, they for sure break top 25.

I would love to see IU upset in WL! BUT, Purdue lost the Bloomington match just as much as IU won it. I lost count of net violations and SEs. If the Boilermakers can clean it up a bit, I think they take this one. Not to mention the rowdy Holloway crowd will be in full force for a rivalry match.
Candela seems to be on a hot streak. I hope she continues to improve.

Way to go Hoosiers beating Ohio State in 5!
6-4 at the turn is the best record I can think of at the halfway point in a looooong time

Rammelsberg had a great night, so maybe that’s why they were giving her so much attention on match point?
Anyway, great decision by Haworth there. Lucky to escape with another win over OSU. 16-14 last year, 15-13 this time around.

So fun watching this group close tight sets and matches. They are so gritty. Big road tests coming up- Illinois and Northwestern both have the ability to beat the Hoosiers.

The fun part of being an IU fan is that sitting at .500 right now still feels like an improvement from years past. Camryn had two triple doubles and the team still went 0-2 last week. Hoping this was just an off week and that the scrappy team from the beginning of big ten play shows up again.
Really not sure what went wrong in the Northwestern game. Seems like middles were rarely in the right place. Jumping with the setter nearly every rotation she was in front, but still unable to get a positive block touch even when she went over on two. Did NU's Rousseau just disguise her sets well? Maybe I'm just salty because Kennedy Hill had an amazing match and Leilani Dodson was almost unstoppable on the slide. IU's block was getting tooled left and right, and NU pins just kept hitting it into huge gaps in the back row.

11-9 in the B1G with 5 set losses to: Penn State, Minnesota, Illinois and Northwestern.
If only.
I hope Cam and Ramsey stick around.

Can’t believe Indiana turned down the opportunity to play in the NIVC. It’s seems like an eternity since the Hoosiers have played in a post season tournament and this team had an excellent team this year and deserved to play in a post season tournament rather than putting the uniforms away for the year and waiting 8 long months until next season!
