Fantastic win vs a very good Baylor team. Baylor was impressive. And we looked really good.
MVP of the match is Orzel. She looked fantastic as a libero and served well. I'm surprised at how good she looked at a new position. She's a baller!! Holy cow. What a great boost for this team if she continues to play this well. So impressed with Orzel.
The Badgers seemed like they had a planned effort to set the middles to start the match. LOVE that. More please.
Feels more like the men's match. When we got a good first contact, we were really hard to stop. Extremely athletic. Impressive.
Smrek looks better hitting OOS balls. You can tell that has been something she worked on this off-season. And she is devastating offensively as a MH. Love seeing her set in the middle.
You could see Baylor making a lot of hitting errors to avoid our big block. It doesn't show up in the blocking stats, but there hitting % was down because they were trying to hit around the block. Our block is really a weapon. That is one of the benefits of a 6-2. Our block has to be really difficult for opposing teams to game plan around. How do you simulate a 6-9 and 6-7 block?
MJ appears to be improved this year (I know, only 1 match). But I like what I saw from MJ.
As impressive as a win as this was, Robinson didn't have a huge match. She's an All American and is capable of much, much more. That bodes well for the future. It's not that she played poorly, she just didn't dominate like they are capable of and will do at points this year. That's good news.
I also didn't think, as a team, we served particularly well. I think we are capable of more. Also good news for the future.
Didn't like the mental letdown in Set 3. I'm sure Sheffield will hammer that point home.
All and all, great first match. Excited for the start of the season.

Sczech and team-blocking were really the only glaring issues against a very talented and experienced Wisconsin team. Stowers and McGhee are a solid and complimentary duo, and I expect the connections with the middles to only get better. It was good that all 3 got a chance to get in some playing time given none of them have had experience at this level of play. Serve receive will definitely be a strength of Baylor again this year, especially with how comfortable Stowers looked. Excited for what this team could look like in December.

I remember the dreaded set 3 lapses in 2020. Tonight I was like, not again; let’s hope this was first game jitters (credit to Baylor, though). I really think today's issues in the 3rd Set were mental. They destroyed Baylor in Set 2 and they came out in Set 3 overconfident. On the flip side, you have a talented Baylor team that has a lot of pride. They did not like how Set 2 transpired so they came out with strong focus to show what they are capable of. Wisconsin didn't match their intensity and lost the Set. That's a mental challenge. You have to "bring it" all the time against good teams or you won't win.

I would hope so when they have a top player from 3 different big ten schools starting🤣 All their hitters minus their opposites are transfers lol. Kudos to Sheffield for building a program that kids wanna go to tho (Regardless of my opinions on him as a person) Yeah. He's an awful human. I'm sure you're well acquainted. 🙄

Loved OOS hitting. Loved Booth getting involved. Blocking isn't quite there yet which is scary. Orzol is a far superior passer to GG. Need to set Robinson more when in and OOS. No more Booth serving. CC is a great server and defender.

Did not expect to see Orzol wearing the libero jersey. As a volleyball fan who doesn't watch a lot of Wisconsin volleyball, I mostly watched them within the NCAA Tournament, I did not see GG as that strong of a libero. They had some good moments but like the passing was not all there most of the time.

How many coaches does Baylor have on the bench? They can’t have more than four *coaches* - head, assoc head, and assistants. Others on the bench could include DoVO, Stats Keeper, Fitness Trainer, Medical Staff, Managers, Graduate Assistant(s), …
