Not worth the argument. My point is she looked much better than last night. if THAT was looking “‘much better” than last night than she can take a seat on the bench lol Agreed. There’s a difference between being having quiet energy and having no energy. There were several times in this match when she wouldn’t jump with a block and wouldn’t even try to dig a ball within a few inches of her. It felt like Minnesota was a five person team and was having to play around her. I’m not saying Landfair is a bad player by any stretch of the imagination, but I’m a bit baffled why she wasn’t pulled when she clearly wasn’t focused.

Okay maybe I’m the only one who noticed her serve receive and movement was much better than last night? Is it the landfair from last season? No. But the players around her are 10x better. As far as I’m concerned, stats only tell part of the story. Is she POY worthy as of this weekend? No. But she looked much more comfortable than she did last night.

You may want to schedule an appointment with your optometrist, because there were quite a few times when she literally didn’t move in serve receive. I watched both the TCU and Baylor matches, and she looked better and more focused in the TCU match. Just from the highlights video for the Baylor match, look at 1:48 and 3:23. In the latter, she didn’t even crouch into a serve receive position: she just stood there. Also, I’ve worked in retail and customer service for years. I can tell when someone is actually having a good time and when someone is faking it until their shift ends.

Watching TayLa this weekend raised questions reminiscent of the Twins pitcher Joe Ryan who attempted for a couple of months to play through a groin injury. Conjecture from the cheap seats is a rather pointless exercise. Wanting to see the Gophers running on six, not five, cylinders isn't.
There's no doubt that she wasn't bringing 'the heat'. It's a long season and you do no favors to either yourself or your team to play through an undisclosed physical issue.
Curiously, her service run at the end of the match featured great pace. Am pretty certain that she's never had an eight point service run. Minnesota's service pressure on all fronts is going to make them a much more dangerous team.
....... Watched the TCU match and was super impressed with Grote's shot selection, pace, and performance. From our seats at the net tonight I could not see what adjustment from Baylor or difference led to Crowl's early sub for her. Crowl made a statement tonight and will hopefully continue to build her confidence. She demonstrated more snap and velocity with only one moon ball IIRC.
Has MN EVER held a ranked team to .000 hitting%?
Wookie 14 1 25 .520 PhoeB 10 blocks Murr energizer bunny spurring the entire squad to keep the ball in play Crowl stepping in and stepping up big time TayLa 8pt service run
Passing was better, but still a lot leaves a lot to be desired When your setter is wearing a knee brace you'd like to not have her running cross country It wasn't until set 3 that Shaff was able to run quicks to the middle.
We are already operating at a level rivalling last year's better performances. Yeah, we could be scary good, but color me scared that we will peak too soon.

I only saw the third set, a little buzzed while walking for beer, but having NA ones to extend the night to make sure to get through the Hawai'i match (yay win over USD in 4), but it was impressive! Great defense! I hope Minnesota beats Texas!

I am a transplant, so it explains a bit of why I can't feel hate for Minnesota Volleyball, as a hard core Wisconsin fan since 1999, even with the Badgers not being able to beat good Gopher teams in Minneapolis between 2000 and 2018. Flipping Penn State and Nebraska, however......

Agree that everyone on the team contributed to the win and that's what it will take going forward as the schedule gets tougher and tougher.

Next Tuesday should be interesting... The Minnesota v. Texas game should be a hoot. Watched both of their matches this weekend. We are going to beat Texas at home. You’ll do more than that. It’s going to be a bloodbath…

Does the improvement in serve receive include the reception when she had flat arms and the ball was deflected into the balcony? Or, when she took one off the shoulder? Baylor targeted her all night. And, it wasn't because she was so improved from the night before. Teams are going to target her all season long so she better figure it out. My question would be "how bad is Hanson in SR if they hide her and let Landfair stay in SR?" Hanson seems to pass well on defense. I would think they would try to at least give her a shot at SR.

At coaches’ camp, one exercise on defense had the team split between “diggers” and “passers.” Julia was in the passing group, along with TayLa, Wookie, Skylar, and Kylie. So fwiw, they do (did?) consider her to be an option for SR.

Parra also had some ice wrapped around her left ankle when she came over. I also was sitting in the area of he Baylor team. Parra was right behind me, and I asked her if her ankle was okay. She said it was, and, in fact, minutes later, she was removing the plastic wrap. I also asked her if she was "crushed" by the Texas loss, and she smiled.

It was so good to see Wucherer recover from her 16 3 31 .419 slump in Friday night's match. She is going to be something special -- not that she isn't already.

Damn. Really impressed with the Gophers. The defense was amazing. Haven't seen that in years. I don't know if I've ever seen them hold a top 15 team to .000 hitting.

Landfair looked much better tonight. Wucherer is showing why she was a number 1 recruit. Murr and shaffmaster.. just wow. Defense was 🔥 Landfair looked much better tonight? This was maybe the most off I’ve ever seen her… I love that we have a team where the B1G player of the year can have a bad night and we still do well, we have depth at the pins and that’s great. Wuch had such a great performance and our floor defense was the best I’ve seen from us in a while. Serve receive continues to be an issue. I’m a Taylor Landfair Stan. Every player has off games, and my GOAT for Minnesota pretty much had an entire off season, it happens, but I’m confident she’ll get back in there. I’m okay that she is a little bit quieter on the court, not every person needs the high energy. I watched the recording of the match today, and Landfair had a good 1st set, then kind of was not a factor afterwards. Part of that was how effective Wucherer was and then Taylor was stuck serving out the match from 18-11, lol. Felt like her passing was decent when it wasn't in the seam between her and Wucherer. We will need her to be ON for Texas though.
