Congrats Stanford. Chin up Louisville—I think this loss will be good learning opportunity. Both teams impressive for sure and hope they meet again in the post season.

After watching this match then the Floridia/Wisconsin game these two teams seem to have a better connection and flow.

I called it. I debated between Stanford 3-1 and 3-2, figured Louisville would be hard to deny two games at home. Big deal. Hey, great win for Stanford. I picked Stanford because the Cardinals are mostly a middle left hitting team, and Stanford is really tough on LOH's. Naturally, I was surprised in the last game when Francis came alive on slides. I would have loved seeing the match, but my sports channels were all screwed up and got most of what I saw on YouTube highlights. Go Card! Terrific road win!

Yeah, the Card had size mismatches that they didn't exploit when they weren't awake in sets one and two. It just boils down to execution or playing too conservatively (i.e., tip city). Poor execution could be related to too many matches on the road and not enough practice time ironing out deficiencies. |

It's a reference to El Palo Alto (The Tall Tree) Admittedly my Spanish is trash, but I always thought Palo Alto meant "high stick" or more loosely "high bar," as in, Stanford sets a high bar for their students. Apparently I should have asked someone when I lived amongst the Palo Altos. Palo Altoers. Palo Altonians. Whatever. Yeah, I've never heard Palo translated as tree. Pole or stick. |
