So folks here seem happy with Carlini's performance. Question is, will we see her in Paris? Idk. It all depends on if Poulter gets back to playing at an elite level. She basically had her entire knee rebuilt. Hancock just had a concussion which is no laughing matter, but at least it's not going to effect her in the long run. I think Hancock and Carlini are the setting duo we will see if Paris, barring any injuries. I would like Poulter to be back in the mix but in time for Paris might not be a reality. Time will tell. I'm not even sure Poulter has a contract to go back overseas this next season.

Well Poulter was the best left pin setter in the world... it would help our mediocre hitting outsides but I don't know that that is really what USA needs now. Carlini is more well rounded in all facets of the game. Just needed to get her confidence back. Poulter is a big setup up from Hancock but I just don't see how she returns to her former 2019-2020 form. Is a downgraded version of her former self good enough compared to the alternatives? She looked hella slow last summer and we saw how that ended up in many matches. We obviously want her back either way.

is it possible JP was harboring that injury post olympics (hence the slowness/tentativeness) and it just got worse with time?
Coming back from injury doesn’t necessarily mean that she won’t ever get back to her old self. Depending on the rehab, training, recovery, team of doctors she’s been working with - there’s a chance she comes back stronger than before. I know it’s slim but can’t immediately write her off post injury.

Things haven’t worked out for Carlini the way some expected, but the path has been completely cleared for her now. We’re about to find out if she’s up to the challenge.

I know it’s slim but can’t immediately write her off post injury. since it is the injury thay Teddy Bridgewater, RG3, and McKenzie Milton suffered, we are just being realistic. We would all be over the moon if she gets back to her peak level.

It would be absolutely hilarious if Sponcil comes in just under the gun to nab a Paris spot.
