This full quote makes me feel good: "We haven't really been able to put back-to-back practices in a few weeks, and I think an element of that is shown in our match play," Badgers coach Kelly Sheffield told Fox Sports 1070's radio broadcast team after the match. "This week, we were able to put two really good defensive practices out there where that was the sole focus, and I thought we were really good defensively."

NW has some decent players - Chinn, Rousseau, Dodson. They shouldn't be that bad. I don't get it either. Spoiler: it's their coach. |

Ok first time to Welsh Ryan since the remodel. It looks fabulous. Raucous crowd despite the blowout. Lots of energy in the building which can be rare for the Badgers. I am not a fan of the video ribbon but I accept it. Wish they had a band instead of ways to generate noise, but the facility is great now, after being one big disappointment 5-6 years ago.
Good Badger crowd in attendance as well, but because there were actually NW fans there, no Badger dominance in the audience.
This is probably the fewest native IL Badger team in 30 years too.

Need to see a sweep here. Can we get it done in an hour? Not sure how much, if any, of this match I’ll be able to watch. 1 hour, 24 min. Shortest this season I think. |

Watched about half the replay and I think I get the idea. First major takeaway is that Northwestern is not very good but Wisconsin's good play had a lot to do with the sweep. Second is that this is the form of GG that we need this year - sure, her good passing was partly due to Northwestern not being that great on serve, but defensively she seemed a lot more mobile and reactive than she has been all year. At times this year she's looked glued to the floor and tonight she made some good plays moving laterally and just generally showed a lot more range than she has been. And that serving run was just a bunch of really well-executed serves in a row. If GG can play similarly to this against better teams then she is going to stay in the lineup.

Having 1 winning record in his entire tenure at Northwestern and being completely non competitive last night, plus two bad losses in nonconference? Hmm… |

Northwestern's sports scene has been steadily improving post-COVID. Student body seems to be much more engaged with all revenue sports - great to see. NU Wildside (student section) has done tremendous amounts of work promoting both volleyball and basketball. |
